No wonder I see so many trucks idling at a truck stop now adays. (Talkin old timers not swifties) Cost as much to do a inframe (close to) as to buy the APU aftermarket new.

Not even close. A Platinum Inframe on my C-15 at Caterpillar costs $20,000 bud.

Guess could be less if you do it your self. =) Cummins was around 10k on mine paid a little over 12 with injectors and carrier discount.

also fyi, it was not a insult or a dig toward you. Just been seen so many old timers idling as of late kind of made a lightbulb go off. =p

Have saved over a 1000 gallons a year since installing my APU over 4 years ago. This is staying out about 3 or 4 nights a week. Never looked back.

Even better when you have less wear and tear on the 500hp beast

I visited the the apu center and looked at the used apu's. They looked pretty good if anyone reading was wondering, i was looking for tripac's they had several around 3000 hrs. .........but the price $7500 came with a 6mo warranty......ouch. So yeah I decided to go the new route to be about $10,700 out the door including taxes for a new tripac evolution but I'm saving some since I have an inverter and a bunk heater and I'm spending an extra $250 to have it stand alone on the coolant. For $9060 sounds like you didn't do to bad on the dynasty. I've had experience with rigmaster and tripac on the company trucks I've had the tripacs being a good one so I decided to go with what I know. Dam things cost enough though that's for sure, but they're worth it.

Thanks for the update. Can you shed more light on your experience with the rigmaster? I've been looking at used Rigmasters and I'm going gen only route. I have my own ac and heater.

The ringmaster I had wasn't worth the powder and lead to blow it up. I couldn't tell you the number of hours it had on it but it was always down. Usually due to the engine. Mine was running ac and heat though.

Hmmm, I wonder what the dealio was? There's only so much to the Perkins motor, and a few more components for your electric. I wonder if yours was failing because of the AC and heater components or what the true deal was?

I hope to find a good used one. Low hours. I'm just looking for a generator, and the Hondas and Yamahas of larger size with remote start are pretty pricey. With the extra headaches of adding an auxiliary tank and getting a different fuel I feel the diesel gen is the best route. The Thermokings kinda scare me because of the pricey proprietary components they use. The rigmaster can be fixed up with cheaper more readily available parts.
