I hope that's true cuz man the rates suck lately. Lumber usually sucks anyway but when I start seeing loads for .90 a mile and fuel is sitting at .95 a liter....pretty hard to turn a profit.

Do you really believe foreign people dropped the freight prices? You are silly

Its not believing it. Its what happened. I'm sure it isn't all of it but it didn't help.

I can't argue with CV about it because there is an abundance of "new Canadian" trucks and most of them have 2 and sometimes 3 people in the truck. I saw one truck pull into a truck stop and 4 guys jumped out with their shower bags. It was like watching a clown car at the circus....wondering if they were ever gonna stop hopping out. Lol.
The other thing I've noticed is the quality of some of the trucks and trailers on the road. Not all "New" Canadians either. But when your truck looks like it's been duct taped to keep it from falling apart....I assume they're not paying a lot for maintenance. So, less maintenance means they can run cheap I guess.

I've seen them, and again not just new Canadians, with tarp straps holding various body parts on. Went to an interview and the dipstick was a stick. Like, from a tree. Should have gotten a pic..

I am not entirely sure on foreigners. I worked at a small company that has several eastern European dry van drivers, they are one of the knit pickiest people I have heard of. One driver I knew well wouldn't drive anything more than 30,000lb and nothing less than $2.80 a mile (basic, price quote/miles). That being said I am not sure how much he got loaded.

Guys, truckstop just had a report couple of weeks ago, van freight is down 43% compare to last year and flat bed is down 60%. Its just the way the economy is right now.
If you saw some ran down trucks driven by foreigners, does not mean they made a huge impact on the freight availability.
Last 3 years was good, now its going down and hopefully after elections it will go up again

Strange, I saw an article out of DAT that talked about the pricing for loads compared to last year and if you calculate in fuel costs it is 3 cents higher for this year.
