I call BS. Circumventing safety features is the first thing you learn, since those tend not to work in most trucks a rookie gets to drive.

    Oh dear... One more Macgyver.

Trailer checked out on pretrip prior to leaving, but when I get to the shipper to slide my tandems, I find this...

    image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Called emergency Maintenence, was asked if I could jury rig it. I said yes, but I'm concerned that the Macgyver fix will come apart or the remaining metal holding it together will snap off.

Guessing, but that'd mean either my lines get ripped out, or my trailer pole-vaults up and then the lines snap.

Was told to roll 10 miles and get it taken care of, so I held up my end of the deal.

Solution: slide the tandems back to maximum legal length, and zip tie the hell out of the supporting arm.

Waiting at a nearby TA to get it fixed.

No, sorry. I left my acetylene torch at home.

I assume that's not what you mean though, I don't know if it would work but I have seen that pair of tubes inside truck stops labelled "welding glue" or something...

    Edit:

    This stuff?

Or bailing wire. Or bungee straps. Or quick set epoxy. Or spare pieces of metal and both cordless and air drills with extra nuts, bolts and washers. Or self tapping screws.....

Rocks, TruckDuo and Vilhiem Thank this.

MacGyver used a pair of jumper cables and a nickel in one episode to weld

it's best to lay it on a R/R track and flatten it.

Nope. Yes. No. ...uhh...I'm a company driver...

Horrible as this may sound, I'm not paid to fix the truck or trailer. It doesn't mean that I won't throw something together to make it work, but Schneider doesn't want their drivers doing any kind of repairs.

I will happily do quick-fixes that'll allow me to do my job. So I'll grab a tube of that quik weld I put a picture up of. Honestly didn't know that would work...

Believe it or not, I don't have a nickel. Or any change at the moment.

The gooberment uses money quite flagrantly far more often.

Oh, and it's only illegal if it's done with malicious intent.

    @sshewins
You weren't cackling manically or having evil thoughts at the time were you? :p
