Here's something to consider. It's not much better when you own them yourself and tend to take extra care with stuff like that. I understand the potential for abuse with a big fleet of trailers. On the other hand, when you pound out 100,000 miles a year in all sorts of conditions, stuff breaks. When you're the guy with the solution, you're the one that stays busy while everyone else is waiting.
I hate Peoplenet, where are you parked and recipes thread

If it were my trailer, and my truck, "fixing it" becomes my job regardless of what it is. I wouldn't have any ground to stand on.
It still affects my time though, and being tossed even 10$ after preventing a dispatched call would make me happy.
I always pride myself on being someone with a solution. I never promise that it's a pretty solution, but you can bet your bottom dollar that it'll do the job. Schneider owns the equipment, but if I don't do what I can to maintain it, nobody makes any money.
At the absolute least, it's job security and respect from not only other drivers, but also the folks who pay me. I just would like to be thrown a bone for the effort once in a while; after all, I'm not at all required to do most of the fixes I have done.
Side note:
I am shocked... Just got a call from dispatch asking if I can train someone. Sounds like he's already passed through Schneider's orientation and the exam. But Monday, I won't be holding the wheel most of the day.
Well. Guess I better bring some extra boxers next week.Rocks, sshewins, RedForeman and 1 other person Thank this. -

@sshewins
Apparently, your "Macgyver did it" trick with jumper cables and a nickel is supposed to work. I'm curious though, I wonder if you could use nickel bars clamped into the clips...Last edited: Sep 18, 2015
