There does need to be more of a background check for trainers. I, for one, feel that women should be welcomed into this industry. Most that I have met expect no special treatment.
We should all be treating each other with respect to begin with, right?

Just to clarify what I'm about to say - I am a woman driver. Have been for eight years.
Is there sexual harassment out here? Sure. I've had a few pats on the butt, the occasional grope and lots of inappropriate comments. Sexual harassment is an entirely different thing than sexual assault.
Am I a victim? Nope. I told them which meat grinder to put their Oscar Meyer in. Or a nearby driver who overheard did it for me.
Have I ever reported sexual harassment? Nope. Most people are good folks, and if asked to stop, they do. The two percent that aren't are usually knocked back in line by the 98% of decent drivers that witness it before I even get a chance to say something.
Bottom line: The vast majority of drivers are great people, but just like every other job, there are a few idiots. You have a horrible attitude to start with. (need I quote again... calling a driver a "big greasy man" ..."a lot of experienced drivers have drug addictions, criminal records, and some serious mental issues"... No, actually, we don't. So go find some facts to back up your ridiculous claims.) If that attitude is anything to go on, there is more to this story than you're saying - even knowing WE is a bottom feeder carrier.
If you wanna be a driver, it's time to put your big girl panties on and handle your business or go do something else. Even the lady drivers of this industry don't need the crap you're shoveling.

I was offered another male trainer and I refused is their official reason for why I was terminated. I went on to work for another large company and was given a female trainer and might I say it was quite delightful. I met a woman who also worked for Western Express who said she was sexually harassed by her trainer as well and when she ran his name he is a registered sex offender. I understand people make mistakes in life and still need to work, but these people shouldn't be allowed to be trainers.

That's kinda brutal, Elvee. You know as well as I do you can walk into any truck stop in the country and find half a dozen drivers that fit the description. I'm not saying they're all bad, but the odds are you won't wanna snuggle up with them, either.
Veryblessed, mosstrap and TruckMama678 Thank this. -
And, as a woman, if you let them intimidate you, then this is not the career for you. I am an Army veteran. I don't ask for special treatment. I do my job.
Change is coming. I see a female driver almost every day now, as opposed to one every month when I first started. Sexual harassment isn't right, but we have a better chance of getting rid of it with more women in the industry. The first few can't have the victim mentality.mountaingote, pattyj and TruckMama678 Thank this. -

Besides, we outnumber the men in America. Once we're in, we can take over.
