New to Prime INC - What to expect (Springfield edition)

Also, I took the $200/wk advance, I said advance. Which I think it's awesome of Prime to do. However, two things about that.

1. The money is issued to you badge/comdata card. Cash can be pulled from it only from Walmart, maybe some atms with fees.
2. It's withdrawn from your check in increments of $25.00 after you get your CDL and you get your gold badge.

With the gold badge I'd advice getting the FleetAdvance app from the Play store for Android so you can manipulate your funds that you may have split between direct deposit and your comdata card. I found it invaluable until my DD kicked in. (2weeks).

I arrived in SpriMo on July 7th of last year for orientation. I will gross a smidge over 60k this year, my first full year driving a truck. During the second phase of training you will gross $700 a week, more than you currently do now. The money is there, but so are all the downsides too. Not being home and having learn to live a pretty solitary life in a tin can. If you have a good gig now where you make enough money to live and enjoy your job, I wouldn't make the leap into trucking unless it is something you REALLY want to do. I personally love my job, but I know it ain't for everyone. There are a lot of sacrifices involved that you don't understand until you start doing it. That aside, if you do decide this is for you then coming to Prime is a great choice. I'm not saying it is the best company out there, but there are faaaaaaarrrr worse options you can choose. Don't sweat the first month with no pay. Remember, the name of the game is short term sacrifices for long term gains.

Yep if you work hard, are safe, show your f.m. that they can trust you to be on time even on the tough runs, and get good fuel mileage the pay he is stating is very achievable as a company solo.

Brehon it seems everyone else already has you pointed in the right direction. But we all appreciate hearing from those who seem as though they have the right attitude, and have already put a fair amount of work into their research before posting questions. So ill take the time to reinforce what some have already told you about going lease because we want to see you successful; A year is about the right amount of time to wait. But at that point you are still relatively new to the industry. So I would strongly recommend leasing a new truck when you go lease as new and used will be avail. Just less mechanical issues to worry about while trying to start a new business. I would also advise enough money saved for 3 months bills and a $3000 emergency fund. If anyone out there is thinking about skimping on this stuff I can tell my story from when I started leasing it may convince you otherwise. As already stated your income goals are totally reasonable and will be acceded. I also believe that prime is one the best places you can be when stating out and also as your career grows, especially those that take some initiative in their work ethic can be very successful here. He's likely on the high side of earnings for job well done. Your earnings may not be that high, but the potential is definately there depending on hometime, how you run, & how you manage your hours of service.
