Did 2 years of LTL just hurt my ability to go back OTR?

LB don't let this get to you. An outfit like that, with policies like that, probably isn't worth going to anyway. I'll admit that I thought it was pretty much just the bottom feeders that put out crap policies like that. Probably is an insurance thing.
I have no doubt that you can find a good OTR job. It just may take some looking. But then you likely don't want to jump at the first job offer anyway, without doing some comparing.
A lot of it could also depend on how much OTR you had before coming off the road. If you are talking years, it will be a lot easier than if you are talking weeks.

I called an outfit once and the gal said if I didn't have a year of pulling a box in the last 12 months I didn't qualify. Why? Our insurance says so. Hmmm...over 5 million miles with reefers, vans, sveral kinds of tanks, and flats, now all of a sudden I don't know how to back up? I've done more hairy back-ups in tanks than I ever did with a reefer. I told her she was an idiot and hung up

That's like Ray,he has 13 yrs with the same company but local.Awhile back him and I was going to team,we looked around and narrowed it down to 2 companies, both companies told him he needed OTR exp.I don't see why it matters as long as you can read a map.

I don't buy the BS that it's an insurance thing. I think that most companies with this "requirement" are gunshy from finding drivers that never worked OTR, that once hired made it a few months and missed home so they quit. Making the company have to start all over.
Just curiously OP, was the recruiter an employee of this company, or just a general "Big Truck Driver" recruiter?
If you really want the best answer, I would call or preferably go in person to their HR dept. and tell them your experience. Maybe once they realize you actually know what you're getting into, they'll make an exception......

    Good luck.

I have 2 years of recent OTR (within the last 5 years) I have more but it's so old I don't even count it anymore (prior to my military career).
