So I've spent countless hours on this forum reading, asking questions and researching companies. I graduated CDL school in August and have applied to several companies. My first choice was Averitt Express followed by Epes, Cargo Transporters, US Xpress and finally TransAm.
The first four companies all told me I would need 3 months experience before they would be able to bring me in. Why you ask? In January 2014 I was fired from a job as a city bus driver for arguing with a passegner. I immediately began working with a non driving company and have been with them since. I was shocked that so many companies told me they couldn't do anything for me until I had experience with another trucking company. At first, I thought they mistakenly thought I had been fired from a trucking company, but I made it very clear it was a local city bus company. I'm assuming it doesn't matter since I was a CMV driver.
That brings me to TransAm....please believe me when I say I have read every bad word about them that's on here and everywhere else. I will not sign a lease, I will be a company driver, there's nothing they can say or do that will change that. If they tell me there's a long wait for a company truck, but a lease truck is available immediately, I'll tell them I'll gladly wait for a company truck. Of course, I hope that doesn't happen.
I'm scheduled to be in Olathe on 9/30/15 should anyone have any interest, I'll be posting updates as often as possible. There isn't too much current information on here about TransAm but what is here has helped me more than I could ever describe. I guess I would like to try and repay the favor.

Best wishes with TransAm.
Freymiller probably would have hired you. -
US Xpress is backed up with students so they've been not taken on drivers.
Good luck at Transfer Am ! -
