As mentioned above, the handhelds look like an industrial smart phone. The operating system is Android, so if you use that platform, you should be relatively familiar with it. It's an all new program that's been developed for us. No keyboard, and hopefully it will be easier to enter Canadian zip codes. They will be assigned to drivers in a manner similar to the way the trucks are. They roll out in Portland in October, then in a few pilot sites. My barn is scheduled to get them late January or early February.
I've also heard XPO will take all IT in house. That's a huge improvement!

May not happen after all, per the TTR email from this morning
http://www.gobytrucknews.com/con-way-could-stand/123brtecson Thanks this. -
Its done. The downgrade will have no effect, financing and backup financing in place a while ago.
Shaggy and snowlauncher Thank this. -
I freaked out when I herd the news of the sale, over-reacted a bit I admit, I even went on a job interview. But then common sense and reason hit me......why run when I don't even know the end, nor have I (or ANYONE ELSE) even seen a glimpse yet. Con-way has been good to a lot of us and I am gonna stay and see how it goes. After all, we are not a bad LTL company and we make money........all the rumors are just that. I understand there is uncertainty, but it deserves mentioning, what if this is the greatest thing ever to happen to Con-way?
Big Don Thanks this. -
We'll see what happens when the acquisition should be completed on October 17..Last edited: Sep 28, 2015

If you have more than 8 years then you may have a complaint, if not then you simply don't! Out of 27 drivers in my barn there are 16 with 20+ years, and yes, they have been dealt some tough blows, but yet they remain, as do you and I! It gets old listening to people say how bad it is but refuse to leave or make any change.
So you think our company sucks?? Why stay? It surely must be better somewhere else......Big Don and upnorthwpg Thank this. -
77smartin, snowlauncher and XFM2013 Thank this.

The view from the outside of con-way is great but once in.. It isn't that great.
No offense, but you're at a really small terminal.. I'm sure things at your terminal is quite different then the way things are at mine.
Instead of 27 drivers.. Think how much different a terminal with 100+ would be on a day to day basis. -
), but the money is good and they pay every week. I also agree that the grass looks green coming in but then weeds start to strangle you.
I hope things go well for you if you leave.....I hope things go well for us if you stay!FreightlinerGuy, Big Don and upnorthwpg Thank this. -
Speaking in a “town hall” session at the annual conference of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals here Tuesday, Mr. Jacobs said, “This is one of those times when companies with our profile, our background, our business plan are out of favor.” He added: “I’m a big boy, I can take that.”
Mr. Jacobs said much of the senior management team at Con-way Inc. will be stepping down after the deal. “What we’re going to do with that company is different than the direction they were going with it,” he said.
