In the beginning of choice, you had to be an O/O for at least 1 year. But they did away with that since they now are allowing company drivers with 6 mos. OTR come to choice. Seems to me, if you can turn a key to start the truck, they'll let you on choice.

They're still strict on having OTR experience.
It's tough to get on choice now.. I keep hearing about a waiting list to get on lately. Few new drivers on here posted about it.
Now on the load board there's an alert to get our new contract signed by the 12th or else we'd would be considered a new lease which there's a "long waiting list" on. So it appears accurate.

That's my point!! It's NOT tough to get on choice. That's why they have a waiting list.

Well you could look at it that way or you could also point out how many other lease O/O jobs with mega carriers having a waiting list to get on? lol
Point is if it was a crappy job there would be no waiting list.

I do agree 6 months experience is too low. I personally believe a driver should make it through all 4 seasons unscathed before being able to commit to leasing a truck.
Some carriers allow drivers to lease right after getting out of training! now that is scary!

    @freightwipper

Did you get the $2.78 per mile load from Harrisburg to West Jefferson OH? Over $1k to the truck...

I could have gotten it but I'm at home and it loads on Monday. Best load I've seen heading west in a while...

    Roll on...

psssh no.... that must have been gone in 2 seconds.
You know what I'm doing today? Sitting. I've been here almost 10 months and I have never seen worse loads in the Northeast than this weekend. I'm probably gonna go to the casino here in PA to play poker and burn some time.
I don't want to stray too far from here because I'm flying out to Texas in a few days.

I usually go to the one by Harrisburg called Hollywood casino.. mainly because they have truck parking (and great pizza lol).
However I recently found out we have a drop lot right across the bridge from the Sands casino in Bethlehem.
So that's pretty cool.. however getting to that drop lot is not.
I enjoy casinos with truck parking even if simply going to get something different to eat.
The endless Subways at every Peeing Flylot is driving me nuts!

LOL, I talked to a company guy that was going to switch over to choice. He had his 6 mos. in. He was asking questions and I was explaining things. I told him how to find his breakeven point and he was like a deer in headlights. Then he asked "doesn't Schneider teach them that in orientation"?? Uhm, Nooo!!! He was flat broke and had no business going into business. He was clueless!! But Schneider was dangling a shiny new truck in front of him and he was drooling.
