You are correct there.
As for me even though I mainly run regional within the Midwest or Northeast most of the time I guess I'd be called OTR cause I rarely go home but that might change now being I'm getting a car.
The longer loads usually doesn't pay that great or if they do they go to a crap area, it is what it is.

[QUOTE="freightwipper, post: 4820870, member: 140203"I saw one of those cigarette outlet toaster overs for sale at the TA.
That's on my list of things I need to get, along with a dash cam.[/QUOTE]
One of the best investments I've ever made. I don't do all the real cooking like Red does, but from time to time that little lunch box cooker comes in real handy. You can take a can of good soup (like Progresso) and simply lay it down in the cooker for about 15 minutes or so, and you have hot soup. Same with burritos and left overs from home. Like I said, I don't really 'cook' in my truck, But if you're stuck somewhere on a live unload that burns all of your hours or in a snowstorm or something, it's good to know you won't go hungry. I keep 4 or 5 cans of soup and 4 or 5 of those instant raman bowls (just add free hot water) in the truck at all times just in case.
Winter is just around the corner. Does everybody keep an emergency stash? Something that's good for at least 2 days stuck along side the road (anybody remember Atlanta 2 years ago??). It's not a bad idea.......jus' sayin'.Home_on_wheels, Drifter42, redoctober83 and 2 others Thank this. -
I pretty much eat out of the truck most days, so I always have canned goods and those Idahoan instant potatoes are pretty good to.

Truck stop food....... Man....you know you've been on the road too long when you start day dreaming about some pilot/flying J pizza. Yeah....I know....pretty sad.
Every now and then I stumble across a small truck stop with some bangin food across the way but for the most part, we're stuck with subway and Denny's.
I really have no excuse I have a refrigerator in my truck with a small freezer, my gf even bought me a small little grill. I was cooking my own stuff for awhile until I ran out and just keep forgetting to stop by a Wally World -
I'm soo over this BS with people knocking on my door... happens at night, daytime even at Schneider drop lots.
