Back in the 90s I was going west on I10 coming from New Mexico into Arizona. This was just before my Father passed away. I was so deep in thought about him I passed the exit to the scales. That ramp is very long and there were lots of trucks backed up on it. I was driving a straight truck then this was before I got my class A. I looked at the ramp and came to my senses just as I got even with the scale house. I was also supposed to buy a permit too. Well I just went by the scale and hoped nobody would notice. They did not. I don't know if I was dumb or just lucky that day.

If I can dodge a scale im going to do so because I just don't want dot to find any reason to pull me in.But don't try that taking any roads that's directly behind the scale they do monitor those roads believe me.You get in Wyoming though its pretty much impossible to dodge scales, they have more port of entries in that little state then the whole state of texas does.

I did it only one time in Oklahoma on accident. I was zoning out on an audio book doing night shift at the time (team 10pm-8am). Anyways as soon as i noticed the scale i was already past the offramp. The angel on my right shoulder said pull over immediately and walk over there and explain that you honestly didnt see it. The devil on my left shoulder said dont waste your time nobody saw you. Well the devil didnt know #### because as soon as i passed that son of a ##### i saw bright headlights turn on came flying out the scalehouse and pulled me over. I asked him to please give me a break he said i am giving you a break heres just a warning no ticket no nothing. I said with all due respect sir that still goes on my psp can i get a real warning i honestly didnt see the scale until it was too late. He goes hmmm, ok, i will give you a level 2 inspection and put that as the reason for the stop, if you pass you are free to go with no marks on your record. He did the inspection and passed me and i was on my way. I thanked him like 10 times one of the nicest LEO i have ever met. So long story short no i never dodge scales anymore. I make my #### legal and if i cant im calling my driver manager and letting them know i cant pull this load for x reason.

How would someone like me, who isn't from Colorado and has never been there, know when I am within 5 miles of a scale that is not on my route? Am I to cross reference every scale house in the state from my atlas and graph charts to make sure I'm not missing someone I cannot see nor realized existed?

I've dodged the EB scale in Lordsburg, NM by going through town. You just have to take your time since they have those cameras.

Leave that outlaw #### to the outlaws. If you don't know what your doing you'll just cause yourself more grief than it's worth and if you did know what you were doing you wouldn't be asking about it on the internet.

any car haulers with the 1 ton duallys and wedge trailers in commyfornia? I mean california? I am one, I have talked to several guys who blow past the scales here in southern california every single day 2 and 3 times a day and never have been stopped. I used to stop at each scale myself and then started blowing by them after I heard that. Haven't been chased yet. Ive even went into them and asked the DOT/HWY Patrol if we are to stop. They have all said yes technically we are supposed to stop cause we are commercial vehicles for hire but if we dont, they are not going to come after us. I got that explanation from two of them at two different times. The third cop said yes stop, if he sees me not, he will come after me. What is the ticket for blowing through a scale anyone know? About $1500?

Saw them do that but it said Drug Checkpoint, on 95 in NC back in the 90's, and yup, looked up the ramp as I passed and there were a line of LEO's stopping everyone getting off.
