How come everyone isn't driving for Walmart?

Please give me an example that you, as a Walmart company driver, experienced. Not something you've heard on a forum or from a friend of a guy you met in a bar, but that you personally experienced as an employee of the company.

Im an O/O and during the busy season and sometimes throughout the year we contract with Walmart........I will say just like being an O/O or many other jobs/businesses, driving for Walmart is not for everyone. Some of the drivers are great to interact with, as well as office personnel. I really didn't like the 14hr everyday thing and then come back the minute your 34 is up. I can see how some people enjoy it, and can see how others wouldn't do very well.....

I appreciate your reply. As you say, dedicated trucks( our term for contractors) are brought at busy times, so they want to get as much productivity as legally possible. Majority of company drivers I know don't like the 14/34 rules either, but that's the law so we work within them. Last night , I broke two hours early, under a load, and nothing will be said about it. I'll still make my delivery on time. My office only offers work programs with minimum 48 hrs off ( at home). We have a pay rate for a driver being caught out on road without enough hours to get home, but in all the years I've been here, I've never heard of it being paid.

You dont have to experience a train wreck to know that you dont want to be in one. Just sayin.

Exactly. And that's why I work I do. And I say that from personal experience, not an observation from the outside.

I can't work for WalMart. After two years of flatbedding, I wouldn't know what to do with a trailer I couldn't load/unload from almost every conceivable direction?

"Whadaya mean, ya can't load me there?!?"

"Driver, we need you to back up to the door to get loaded."

"BS! Just bring the load to me and set it down!"

"Driver, our forklifts can't get to you in the parking lot, and you have WALLS in the way! Now back the durned truck up the the durned door so we can load you!"

"Screw it! I'm going back to flatbedding!"

So it's Walmart's fault for having people work in their stores that can't do anything better? Come on driver? Not everyone is as smart as you and me.

Go ahead and start your revolution. Just make sure you call the people that work for McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut and all the other minimum wage jobs.

It's not the employers fault, it's the employees fault for not wanting to continue with there education and wanting better for themselves.

My buddy just started with Walmart out of the DC in Maine. He lives in NH. His paychecks indicated he was making $72k a year. With a little coaching from a member on here he's over $80 already. He loves it. He has a steady paycheck and unlike many on here from what I see, he's able to follow the rules.

As far as him showing up at a Walmart store it's all hands on deck to unload him immediately. I stop and shop at Walmart in the wee hours all the time. I constantly hear over the intercom that a truck has pulled in and everyone get out there and unload it.

I haven't seen you actually refute anything that has been said.

    Elaborate and enlighten us.
