The correct way to quit Knight Transportation.

First time post on truckers report so let me start on the story of how I quit Knight in noteworthy fashion. First of all Knight is not only the worst trucking job but it is the worst job period I've ever had. I joined after an Swift L/O stint with a lemon Pete and thought a $1k paycheck and regular hometime in Vegas was a ok deal even if I had to put up with the L.A. ports. Boy was I wrong. Never mind the ports, most of my headaches went with dealing with Knight. The $1k paycheck was a best case scenario week which only happened once and the hometime was nonexistent as I was mostly between L.A. and Phoenix or parked in front of Colin Powell Elementary School in Compton. Twice, they left me hollow on the weekend with bad load assignment info and nobody to answer the phones. Twice, my one of three trucks with Knight broke down with a week downtime. Before quitting I even tried to see how Knight Refrigerated was. Just short hauls with too much time to the worst grocery warehouses in the country. After spending most of my time with Knight looking for a better opportunity elsewhere, I found an opportunity to where I am now netting 2500 a week and doing d&h cross country loads.

But this is the way I quit Knight. I picked up a potato load in Farmington, NM and went straight to the Phoenix terminal. I dropped my trailer, parked, and sent this message over the qaulcomm.

"Trust me this message is only intended to burn bridges. Thanks for the lies, thanks for wasting the past two months of my life. In case you can't get the tone of this message I'll put it in simple terms. I quit. I quit. I quit. I F----------------ing quit. Don't worry the truck is safely parked at the PHX terminal for when you find the next sucker to fill it's seat, but first you need to find a sucker to deliver this hot potato load at the last minute. Sayonara Knight I'm off to Panama!!!!!"

And right after I hit the send button I left the truck idling and grabbed an Uber to an airport hotel before flying off to an in between job vacation in Panama the next morning. I blocked the main dispatch number but I did get one phone call and an email after that and surprise surprise they never paid me on my last load. But I don't care. I'm just thankful I quit that horrible company.

 

LOL, I've been in my next job for two months and have never been happier.

 

Most companies deserve that respect but not Knight. And if you stick with the O/O or L/O route (which I will never leave now) the DAC is meaningless as long as you keep your safety and credit situation straight.
