Abandonment for the Company Driver...The company driver left Company truck & trailer any place other than an authorized location. (terminal is fair play...safe location.).
Company Drivers do not or not required to deliver the load!
If, asked about it...simply describe the incident...its a non issue, you'll be hired by every Carrier.
If you quit while on home time...

Make sure when you quit, that you do not have a load assigned to you via the Qualcomm. They may hit you with quitting under a dispatch. Check your DAC report at least once a year, to make sure everything on it is accurate. Anything not accurate get fixed. DAC is a lot more cooperative now since they have had issues before, that got them jammed up.
-
The problem with telling your side is most times a company does a pre-hire check of the DAC. Once they see this they toss the application. You never get far enough into the process to explain. I know several people with this problem. Their not hireable and in one case the guy has not been able to get a good driving job for over ten years. Of the three one has got out of trucking and is driving a cab in Athens Georgia. I can't say this strongly enough don't abandon a truck or load ever.

It's an issue if they put it on his dac and then no mega company is gonna hire him.
-
No it doesn't suck, you should never quit while under a load.Your company ,dispatcher and the customer is counting on you to deliver that load and ontime.
-
Just call and tell them you broke a leg or an arm and wont be able to get back to the truck anytime soon. They will repower load and you can quit in the following weeks.

Cowardly.Mudguppy, CasanovaCruiser, AModelCat and 1 other person Thank this.

Maybe, but still better than an abandonment altogether.
-
Why quit under a load?
If they give you miles, take the miles - you're about to be unemployed.2Girls_1Truck and pattyj Thank this. -
anybody who quits while under a load deserves to have vehicle abandonment as well.
