Give them notice, do it in writing, I usually make it an email so I have a copy at the ready, ride it out for two weeks or however long you have them, turn your keys in at the assigned location and walk out with your head held high, and proceed to the next carrier.

That is the professional way to leave.

What if they keep assigning you loads and trying to drag it out?

When I was on my last load at Swift I set my time available for another load 2 years away and deadheaded back to the terminal haha

I have never had that problem, but I would refuse anyload once empty on the date I gave them. I would then head back to the nearest terminal.

thing to do is take a leave of absence then when u get home tell them you're resigning from the company.its better then a load abandonment on your record.

"If I quit without notice and abandon my truck and already loaded trailer, will I be accused of load abandonment?"

What is up with these lob-ball questions? What do you suppose "abandonment" means, in this context? It's akin to stating the obvious (for no purpose) and collecting attaboys from everyone who agrees with you, or in the opposite form, it is trolling.

    drdesl and pattyj Thank this.
