    Hello there,

I have searched and could not find much information. I would like to know fuel mileage on trucks that are bobtail or empty to light loads.
I am mostly interested in new highway trucks.

Please post your fuel mileage per gallon.
Year of truck, engine and tranny
It would help me when i go truck shopping. Also if there are ways to save fuel, please post them aswell. I have been told new volvo (2010+) with ishift and Cascadia with detriot have great mileage compared to older trucks (2007).

    Thank you

Just about any truck will get 10+ bobtail. Light loads depend on type of trailer, aerodynamics, wind speed and direction, etc.

You would have to go clear back to 98 to get the really good economy detroit, they sucked after that reprogramming mess

This is such an overrated concern IMO. First of all...too many variables. How about, pull better paying freight so fuel savings is no longer such a concern? Secondly, while newer trucks may offer better mpg then said older trucks...the money saved on fuel will be absorbed by maintenance/repairs, lost revenue and downtime due to DPF/EGR issues vs. a older pre emission truck w/less issues, generating consistent revenue with less maintenance expense.

2016 KW T680 bobtail mileage on a 279 mile trip in the northeast.

    Paccar mx13
    13 speed stick.

Mileage runs mid to high 9's at load weights 10k and under.

Low 9's to 8's from 10-40k load weights

Mid to high 7's at load weights over 40k

    -----------------------------------------

New delivery June 1 to YTD avg at all weights with a June 1 to YTD avg weight of 25k

All types of loads and terrains. I don't drive for mileage

Compared to the 2013 Volvo 670 / 13 speed stick I drove previously, the KW kills it on fuel mileage by 1 mpg

Possibly I would guarantee that a cat will, and run better also. If I recall correctly our fleet of n14 didn't seem to be much different. We had 40 from 95s up to 03s.
