It is not sealed from the government.......... and, if you were tried as an adult it depends on what the judge ruled...... even if it is sealed there will be an entry that says "Juvenile Record Sealed"......... that is enough to make most prospective employers worry/question.........

Another issue now......... since the kid told the carrier about his past....... I wouldn't be surprised if they pass that information on to any future prospective carriers that might call as well......... really........ things like this catch up with you........

Well yes TheStoryTeller, i was in the california youth authority. I had an 88 number. i was committed as a juvenile. I was released almost 3 years ago with not one violation or "run-in" with a peace officer other then a speeding ticket and fix-it ticket. I have been actually working as a Public Safety Officer ("Privately contracted through a security Co.") doing bike patrol in Downtown Los Angeles and other nearby areas. I have undergone numerous background checks and seen the copies myself. Most of these checks were done through the Superior court and simply says " No Records Found", under misdemeanor and felony categories. And I also have a California Guard card which required a background hrough DOJ (department of justice) and fingerprints through FBI. And my Driving Record also list "No Records' under the arrest section. I was just worried that once i start with this company and they try to run me across the border (canada) they would "hold" me. I have already notified my trucking compay that i only have a juvenile record and its like they didnt even care... And no, when i did get into that trouble a long time ago it was NOT funny. i just kinda laugh "stupidly" back on it. I do know the seriouness of the charges and situation i put myself in. and i did not qoute the actual charges because I know what they are and did 3 1/2 years for them in Preston CYA in ione, ca. My juvenile charges were serious enough to put me as a W&I 707B which means they were Very serious charges and I dont get off my juvenile parole untill age 25 and cant have a gun or apply for a peace officer position until my 31st birthday. so anyway, whatever about those things.. lets try and stay focused on the positive, i am about to start a new career as a trucker and thats the related info i would like to post and read.. thanx and no hard feelings

And DoubleDragon5, yeah some states are like that, but california has one of the worst juvenile court systems in america. they dont know what they are doing.. but yeah i do get to seal my record i just gotta wait longer. my PO is recommending early discharge with an "Honorable Discharge" for this february.

I just went on the Central Refrigeration Services website and looked at their job application. It asks the question "Have you EVER been arrested for a felony or misdemeanor?" Ever means all time. If you answered no because you were a juvenile then you lied. If they find out or you're held up because of it you'll never drive again anywhere. Sorry but that's the way the industry works.

I too am concerned that you've already filled out an application and didn't divulge all the information on it,
and fear that will be your downfall.

Is there a chance your PO can contact the company you've applied with and put in a good word for you?

At this point, I think the company is having second thoughts.

nope, california state law say that with dealing with a juvenile record i do not have to divulge any information about it. (even on employment applications.). I will try to find a referance on it to prove it later... but in california when a juvenile goes to court and is charged with crime and charged as a juvenile, he/she is never "CONVICTED" rather they (the justice system) have them commited to the state and called a ward of the state. crazy huh. the only persons i HAVE to tell is a peace officer... (untill my record gets sealed) ...and about central, they didnt take me anyway because i had a suspension within a year time frame... so, im looking around right now.

yeah, my PO will do alot for me... been on "juvenile parole" going on 3 years and never had police contact or dirty test... she useually just acts like my mother or aunt when she wants to talk to someone. if i tell her i dont want someone to know about the parole thing... she never mentions it..lol besides, i plan on doing trucking untill im about 30, then i want to go for police officer which i will be allowed to do at that time.. and she said she would even write a rec for me... but nahh, i dont need her talking to a truck Co. for me.....

I know everyone here gives good advice and all, but wow.. i feel like people are against me... but ANYWAY,,, I finally got a company that i feel will be okay to work for.... CRST. My application process with them took literally 4 weeks!!!,, but they called today and said i am starting thier school monday... i just hope i dont get a call later telling me they forgot something and i cant go.. but im pretty dam sure i talked about everything and awnsered all questions truthfully.. but this is to be noted.. when asked about criminal record.. i stated i had only a juvenile record.. and guess what.. no further questions were asked and the process moved right along..... so please,,,,screw the issue about the juvenile record stuff.... it would be great to hear some things on this company from you guys....
    thanks
