I am currently a Verizon customer but the data fees are going to kill me... I am planning on keeping my phone (voice mainly) on the family plan for their national footprint since it will only cost me $15/mo for unlimited phone/text but going with a carrier that offers unlimited data plan for use OTR.

Any one have an opinion on Sprint vs T-Mobile or are there other options I should consider in addition to these two?

I've got t mobile. I like it but there are some huge holes. No data coverage in Montana or North Dakota West of I 29. Depends on where you run. Service has always been good. And CS is good. Lots extras free music streaming apps. MLB at bat app for free

I tried Tmobile but it wouldn't work out here in the cornfields where I live.

It depends on where you run. Phone service is fine. Only thing I have problem with is Northern plains data coverage but phone service works well there.

Sprint drops out pretty bad in North Dakota. Otherwise, I don't have many complaints. I have unlimited talk/text/data on the phone, but if I'm running hotspot, that's capped at 20 gigs I think.

Sprint just dropped their truly unlimited data.

I still have it. It drops to slower speed if I watch a zillion YouTube videos, but I'm almost at the end of the billing cycle by then anyway.

T-Mobile for sure. They've improved their service in the last three years thanks to that failed merger with AT&T. My phone is with T Mobile but have Verizon MiFi for those areas with no reception.

Let me elaborate. I haven't had too much data strangle since I don't usually go over 20 gigs in a month, but I do use hotspot for my laptop and that does add up.
