I have had a number of occasions where The broker demands 29' in the well. There is a shipper in KS that ships rail equipment that is like 110k but they won't load less than a 29' well

I saw the end of civilization posted today by a clueless broker:

A cat 773 from NV to South TX posted at an all in rate of $6000.

100k lbs 15' plus wide load that will require escorts for an all in rate of less than $3.50 per mile

It makes me want to light my equipment on fire......

    RGN and tsavory Thank this.

Had a trailer all picked out, only one in the country on the ground. Got everything finalized, the dealer calls me this afternoon and informs me that Fontaine screwed up. This trailer was supposed to be built and on the ground waiting for the dealer to pick it up. It's not built! They are saying November 12th. Not sure if it's a sign from above saying to call it off and see how the market plays out or not.

    What made this trailer unique?

It's a 40 ton with a 102" swing hydraulic neck, 29' well and a flip axle. I can't find anything like it with a hydraulic neck.

I don't have a problem waiting until the 12th. It would have just worked out great to go get it next week. I drop my last wind hub on Saturday. Now I can either sit at home for 3 weeks or build ramps and continue pulling a company trailer until mine is built.

I got a question. Someone was asking about mounting a spreaderbar / stinger / or jeep to the neck about a week ago but was worried about it being considered a divisible load on permits.

Couldn't you treat it like a flip neck and add a couple of pins to make it a part of the trailer? aka weld a piece and add a detachable pin?

Unless you're paying cash, I'd wait. I don't think the bottom has hit yet. I have plans to attend the next two auctions, as prices are still declining, and I think they may be a few steals...YMMV
I placed an order this spring for a 13 axle, then changed my mind. Turned out to be the best move I've ever made...it sucks, cause I really wanted that trailer. Our 13's have basically been parked since then!
