SNOW!!!! Multiple areas of N. Colorado and S. Wyoming, Cameron Pass, RMNP, and other areas all got a dusting to 3" of snow last night...........meanwhile, on the front range we had a 4,200 acre wildfire that closed I-76 fro two hours.

Well Ladies and Gents, winter is upon us. The winner of the "Golden Chain", for the first pass with the chain law, goes to Wolf Creek Pass, Weds. the 21st about 1:30 pm. Was only up for 2 hrs, but it was there. Followed by Monarch. Next day, 70 got it's first chain law, after the unprepared turned it into a parking lot from Silverthorne to the Tunnel, big trucks and 4-wheelers. It's my understanding, Colo. State Patrol wrote 10 citations on Thursday to drivers who failed to chain up and spun out. Reminder, that is a $500 to $1,000 fine, just how deep is your pocket book?

Just a reminder, contrary to what the signs say, you need to carry chains any place in Colorado West of I-25. The following routes had a chain law in the past 72 hrs: Colo 9 Hoosier Pass, US 50 Rabbit Ears Pass, I-70, US 50 Monarch Pass, US 285 Kenosha Pass, US 160 Wolf Creek Pass, Colo. 67 Cripple Creek, US 145 Lizard Head Pass, US 550 Red Mountain Pass.

Me and my brand hammerin' new Michelin XDS drives only had to chain up for 3 miles earlier this week ..... and I won the prize ! First to the toll booth !! ....... and I still had to friggin pay !
