Exactly. My truck looks just fine. It's well-maintained and hauls from shipper to consignee. That's all I need.

    The question is:

Why do you think it will be any different being on choice as opposed to being a company driver?
We all jump through the same hoops.
    Same logs,qualcomm,trailer searches,trailer moves etc.

SNI takes more from us(as stated in the new contract).
Like keeping part of the fuel bonus we get through Pilot/Flying J,repairs/maintenance done at participating SNI approved facilities and the list goes on.

Sure you can pick where, when and how much you run.
But don't be so naive in thinking it's a different Schneider.

It's a good deal most times but here lately not so much.

But as always this is just my opinion.

It's got nothing to do with cosmetics. It's cool to drive a nice looking rig but I'm mostly weighing the good and bad with the mega carriers. I've narrowed it down to Werner or Schneider. Here's what I've looked at:

    Schneider:
    Sign on bonus
    Good Dispatchers
3 week training (1 week OTR)
2 weeks out 2 days off or 3 weeks out 3 days off
    Pay is 32cpm starting out
Said I'd have to park at terminal
    Discounted boots
    No company store discount.

    Werner:
    Newer model trucks
    No assigned routes
5 week team driving (2 day orientation)
3 weeks on 2 days off (Dedicated home weekly)
    Pay is 32cpm starting out
    Can park at home
    Company store discount.

The amount of time you spend on the road and at home with Schneider is dependent on the account or position you drive. Some is like you described. Some is home weekly for a reset. Some, like what I currently do, is out 8 home 3. That's one thing I really like about Schneider. So many options.

Yep..way more options than werner...at least sni don't treat you like an animal and have you talk to your dispatcher through a bullet proof window...

Being a driver in the northwest they aren't going to have a lot of the time off options that east coast and Midwest drivers have

I'm no defender of schneider but Their recruitment ads for drivers says a 600 mile avg loh. There ad also states that OTR is eastern region or western region. Their teams that run west.

I really don't have the time nor desire to pick these posts apart...but I have to chime in here

You say you consistently average 3k miles per week and/or run up against your 70 every week.
---no, you don't. If that were true you wouldn't be complaining.

You say you're part of the 1% of drivers that know all of the ins and outs of the mega carrier behind the scenes goings on. Yet, you also say you're the guy that talk to all the drivers at the truck stops.

---no, you aren't...and no, you don't, because if you did you would realize about 94% of the drivers out here not only know the internal workings of all mega carriers, but the entire world. Plus you wouldn't have all that nifty time to #### chat if you were cranking out 3k mile weeks in a 60mph truck.

You also state that 2 1/2 hours before an appointment and 30 minutes after is "paper thin"?!?! Hahaha dude you have no idea how close we have to crunch time in order to make a day worth it as an IC. You ever done 4 trips in one 14 hour period with 2 of them being live loads? No, no you haven't.

You want to seriously sit there and tell all of us choice drivers how cushy and easy this is when there are literally THOUSANDS of posts reflecting the exact opposite? That's just posts. You take any of that time from complaining with all the other company drivers you claim are dissatisfied with this company and actually ask IC's how it is from their aspect?
----no, you didn't or you would have a realistic view on not only what to expect in the choice program, but also what it actually takes to obtain those expectations.

This is hard ### work. Mentally more than anything else. You're not going to make it with the plan you've so clearly laid out, as many have pointed out so far. You have a lot of theory about how this works, but you have no idea.

If you're disgruntled at 3k mile weeks under consistent pay and benefits and zero maintenance, you'll probably commit suicide after about 3 days on choice.

Lol, this is one interesting thread. No sense arguing with the guy who is on the 1% of drivers and knows everything there is to know.

I don't know where you get your info, but Schneider is turning over their entire fleet of trucks by 2017.
