Phone won't play vid. Burger Hut,don't remember that place. Tearing up Colorado bridge right now for the bike path tunnel. 1.5 mil frekn bike tunnel. Alot of riff raff from wherever(not homeless) moved into Bend. People with a few $ in their pocket and an attitude they should leave at home. Hauled a ld of asphalt from lone pine to Christmas valley airport. I didn't know they had any planes at C.Valley. Use to haul out to the rocket listening base.

Yeah I get out to the SE desert area now and then, Sis lives in Silver Lake and is a teachers aid at the school. There's a bunch of tweakers out in Fort Rock and Christmas Valley and she deals with their poor kids often. They get cleaned up and fresh clothing at school, hard to believe way out there 'eh. This building was still standing downtown in Bend when I was in high school right on the river about where Bank of the Cascades is now ,took up a whole city block .

Not surprising #tweakers out there. Too bad the children are exposed to zombies. What a dead end life.

Your original post is about a month old but if you are still wondering about May I can tell you a lil bit.

Drivers that left my school came into my class from different companies and there were only two guys that were really happy with the companies they chose and those companies where "May" and "Watkins and Shepherd." They both are what they call a second chance conpany. I have a felony background and they overlooked that. I was released almost exactly 3 years ago and I'm driving a truck so I'm thankful.

Let's get more specific though. May pays .35 cents per mile to drivers out of training. But you can also choose to get paid $105 a day. Now let's day you made more then $105 a day in mileage. At the end of a 30 days you get that extra that you made. The $105 option is for those who are worried about not getting enough miles or for those who for whatever reason didn't get enough miles. After taxes I'm looking at around $590 a week on the $105 a day. Drivers are usually out 3 to 4 weeks at a time with 3 days home. My first time back after six weeks I took 5 days but I wasn't getting paid of course. I had orientation in Phoenix and was sent to Fontana to do local work with a local guy. Did lots of backing and got practice going through the hills. Even stalled out on the Grapevine, "good times." I then got a different trainer to take me over the road and I was with him for about a month. He was driving an automatic. They are trying to put everyone training in an automatic so students can focus on driving. Also they are trying to get rid of all manuals by 2016.

I was placed in a 2015 Freightliner, manual, with around 172000 miles on it. It was pretty clean. But I was asked if I wanted an automatic and told they would put me in one. I didn't really have a preference though. I will tell you the automatic does a lot of the work for you. Yoh could test out in different areas and if they don't have a truck or the type of truck you want you might have to travel to get it.

I forgot about training pay. Training pay is $540 a week and you take home about $480 I think.

They provide a converter. Yoh buy your own tv, cb radio, and tv and they will install it for free at their terminal.

They do have a governor and it is set at 61 miles per hour. You are going to see a lot of guys passing you. In some places you can go up to 75 as long as it is safe to do so of course. Most places are 65. So because of the governor that limits how many miles you will be able to do in a day a little bit.

I know my response is late but I hope some of that can help you. Overall I'm happy with May. They've been good to me and I appreciate my opportunity.

    Good Luck to you...

Are you still driving for May Trucking? If so how is it going for you? I'm currently in school and trying to decide between May or Schneider. I do like May's flat pay option. How is there training and equipment? Do they give you enough miles and is home time good. Appreciate any input you can offer. Thanks!

Sorry it took so long. I thought I replied to this already. I am still with May. I've had a good experience with them. The equipment is good. I ended up in a 2015 Freightliner with about 170000 miles. They are trying to phase out the manuals though. It's not just talk it's actively going on. The manuals are getting pulled around 300000 it looks like and replaced with automatics. They are trying to get trainers to use automatics as well. They want the trainee to focus on driving and not on shifting. Your trainer will be in the passenger seat while you are training too. They won't be back in sleeper when you have a question.

My miles have been decent. The miles vary but I did the math and the average pay is 760 per week after taxes. My last pay checks were both higher then that but we are talking about the average. I'm paid per mile which I switched to about 1 month of flat pay. You drive differentry when you're paid by the mile. You push harder and try to look for a 34 hour restart if it's going to be possible so you can keep on moving after you drop your load. Imagine two guys have the same amount of time to get somewhere but one guy push it hard and takes a 34 hour restart before he drops and the other does not. Well the guy with the 34 hour restart has a significant amount of available time to drive and the dispatcher can send you further then the other guy if needed.

The have been good with home time. They have had me home before or on the day I've asked off. Usually they have you home the day before the day you request off.

Good luck. I'm sure wherever you go as long as you work hard and be careful you will be alright.

So that's about 36,000 a year. Not bad I guess but I know some other starter companies out there pay 50k your first year. Sucks the trucks are governed at 61.
