Me I landed @ the Wheatridge, CO TA, Getting a bit too far east for my liking. And the beer loads are looking pretty good compared to the rest of the crap.
Only a little snow on the ground above 10k coming over Eisenhower today. Merge/Construction delay was terrible though. Added 45 minutes to the trip. -

Winding up in Mexico from a wrong turn in NEW Mexico happens to the best of us. After WW2 when the Army was playing with all those nifty German V-2 rockets they brought back along with the scientists that built them at White Sands Missile Range (called the White Sands Proving Grounds in those days) one had it's gyroscope guidance system fail and it headed straight for the border, crashing in south Juarez near a cemetary on May 30th 1947.

Yep, I'm back. You all can't get rid of me that easy!
I'm not sharing too much about my vacation, but she and I fell in like old friends. I think the best night was getting close to piss-ant drunk on the last night and singing Karaoke with her as a duet on stage. Despite both of us being inebriated, we apparently got the whole bar singing with us and applauding. Couple folks asked/almost begged us to do another song, but the tequila was wearing off by then.
Unless someone nabbed a video of us up on stage, it's probably buried in the crew member's memories. ...a few folks I wouldn't have minded tossing overboard. Tequila makes many people do many things; but singing on-key and with any skill is not one of those things.
...right now, she's got all the pictures... I apparently don't get them until they've been "screened" and filtered. ...at least not the ones I can share...
Because of some events that happened on the cruise, I'm seriously debating taking up SNI's yearly "team for amazon" offer for their dedicated drivers. (Could be for all drivers, but the QC message was for dedicated drivers.) It's a 3x salary increase, but it's teaming. ...and my official stance for the most part has been, "You can't pay me enough to team."
I'm getting information tomorrow from my DBL about it. It's a temporary position for 3 months. I wouldn't mind the experience, and it'd get me out of the southeast for more driving experience. ...but my only stipulation would be that I would HAVE to run nights. I'm used to sleeping in the daytime mostly anyways and much prefer nighttime driving.
Headed up to Statesville, NC tomorrow for a quick drop and hook for JCP. Decent way to start the week off, but I plan to be leaving out of ATL by 4am.
Given my lack of sleep and patience, I should probably get right on sleeping asap. Fiancee got bumped from guaranteed seat to standby because the line overbooked. (Notorious for doing that. If anyone is curious, it's Air Canada. We're doing Delta next time.) Ended up leaving nearly 12 hours later than she should have. Air Canada got a great deal of the brunt of my frustration today, and likely will get more tomorrow as she just was bumped to standby for her connection flight too. They've already comped us 2x of the fare, plus given a meal ticket, but we had her booked so she could make it home, get settled in, sleep and then work the next day without skipping a beat.
If they lose her bags... Ya'll best stay away from the Atlanta airport; might be some fallout from my...dissatisfaction.
Anyways... I've got a couple years of trucking left at least. Much of it is going to depend upon if I can find a company/job I'm happy with. Thankfully, my fiancee has given me a couple options to look into. To me, it's rather amazing what a class A/1 CDL grants you when it comes to career options.
2 years of schooling and I'm cleared to drive an ambulance in Canada for instance. (Class 2 is required for driving an ambulance there.)
We shall see. We shall see. I like the job, but I know I can find something that's a better fit.Rocks, HeWhoMustNotBeNamed and TruckDuo Thank this. -
RedForeman, TruckDuo and Vilhiem Thank this.
