That's right. I'm sitting here with my feet up on the desk looking out the window of my corner office on the 7th floor. You caught me. Darn it! :(:p

I'm a 53 year old Rookie who went with Stevens and SuperService before I found a real home with PTL. My dispatcher treats me right. I never - ever - wait more than 15 minutes for my next dispatch. Everyone in the office is courteous and I get treated with respect, even if it isn't what I want to hear. As a Rookie with 6 months experience, I was given a 2015 International with almost no miles on it. When I was hired they acted like they were glad I was there. Also, they are 100% Employee Owned, so in a sense I am working for myself as well as the Company. Each year employees are given shares of stock in the company with no cost to the drivers.

Have I had issues with equipment? Of course. Very aggravating. It goes with the territory.

But as a Rookie I was given a new tractor, I have a cool dispatcher, I am treated with respect, I own (a very tiny) part of the company, I never wait for my next load, and the office staff acts like they care.

    I'm happy with that...

I went through orientation 2 weeks ago. It took an extra 3 days to find a trainer. When I finally did find one, he was only concerned with my ability to help him get over 5000 miles. He was consistently telling me that I was doing great and then telling the company that I was unsafe. Ptl has such a huge influx of trainees at the moment, they won't hesitate to let you go at the drop of a hat. The company itself seems fine, but they are in need of good trainers. They are promoting drivers to trainers with less than 2 months of solo driving experience.
The preplans seems to come really quick. They can get you good miles. Just stay away from the lease program. I would come back after getting experience with another company, just to avoid getting another bad trainer

It really is a place you can stay a long, long time. And the longer you stay, the richer you become...you just can't take your money out until you retire!

The training is hard and takes awhile to complete. Iv been here almost six months. With all major companies it has it flaws. Depending on you it can be bad or good. If you just do your job and don't complain ( to dispatch or anyone in a office) call as little as possible and use the quallquamm as much as possible to send messages you'll be aight. Now that being said I do ##### but never to them I just scream and cuss at the quallquamm. But I get great miles. If you show them your a runner and patient they will treat you right ( they will test you). If you blow up on them or cuss and argue. You'll get your miles cut to the point where you quit so they don't have to fire you. First part of training is the easiest (pick your trainer carefully) they have great trainers and sh*** ones. Me myself I had a great trainer. Ask to see his truck before you agree. If it's a mess he probably just using you to make money. If it's clean that's a good sign ask him to give you a run down of how he trains. Driving is easy my kid could drive a strait line. You have to learn the Qualcomm to be successful. Ask him what micro he would use to pick load up pick up empty arrival at customer. And the headrest on for breakdown since we all just call them if he can't tell you without looking at it find someone els. And backing you need as much practice as possible while with him make sure he will give you plenty of backs. 75% should be done by you. You will only be with him 8 to 10 days. Then p2 ( this is the hard part) you have to team for 40000 mile or 50000 if you hit something. If you do hit something no matter if there's no damage report it cause if they find out you will be fired. I did and I've got the respect and they value me cause I was honest and didn't try to hide or blame anyone but myself. No matter how big or small. It sux but my job is safe and I stay moving as long as my truck isn't in the shop. Pick your partner wisely make sure he or she knows the job and has been properly train like I just stated you needed. Me people tend to get on my nerves when cramped in a truck for too long so I kept choosing partners who where all most done only had 10 to 15000 left. Except for my last one who wasn't trained at all and I about lost my cool with due to being woke up cause they didn't know what to do or was lost or needed to back. Tuff it out be patient and this company will be great or the other way where I see so many complaints I almost bet money the argued with dispatch and got their miles cut. I love it here will probably stay till I buy my own truck or go to Melton which Iv meet a couple older guys here who worked there till they come here. They just got to old for flatbed. Stay out at least 4 weeks at a time the longer you stay out the better loads you get. They have a list where when you go home you move to the bottom then as others go home you make your way back up. I stay out 8weeks at a time so for at least six weeks I'm at the top of list. I have a wife and kids but they understand for the first two years I have to pay my dues then I can come home more often or get a great local job. I mean it's 2015 I see my kids everyday though Skype or Facebook. Also when I do go home I usually take 7 day but I have 10 built up just not makeing money at home. Also finish your training before going home. Makes you look good you get an option to go home after p1 but I don't recommend it. It makes you stand out when you say no I want to finish before I go home. And there was a couple times I had runs by the house and got to stop for at least a night if it was a live unload. I hope this helps and when you get done with orientation my trainer should be in there by Thursday looking for a trainee his name is Nick ask if he's there. He looks like one of the guys off duck dynasty. Let me know how your doing hope to see you out here. II'm in truck 16187.

WOW ! i left PTL back in January because phase 2 was full of 600 mile runs and sitting on weekends at customers who wouldnt be open until Monday. There was a case when my partner and I had about 3500 for the week and nobody mentioned anything about a drug test. Now PTL has its issues , no more than the other companies out there but to flat out tell fairy tales is wrong. If i had to i would go back because i wouldnt have to deal with P2.
