70 Hours X $10.00 per hour = $700.00
Truck driver working 70 hours per week @.37 cents per mile driving 2500 miles per week
.37 X 2500 = $925.00 ( .37 cpm and 2500 miles per week are the averages for the Truckload industry.)

 

What your dispatcher gives you for miles and what the company's website says are 2 different things.Alot of drivers don't even get 2000 miles a week and some teams are given solo loads.Trucking is far from consistant so I do think there are weeks where McDonalds does make more then the trk driver does.

 

Actually, this is not an accurate calculation, in most situations, the worker would be paid 1.5x wage for 30 of those hours. No overtime in the trucking world (for the most part)

 

What McDonald's HOURLY worker do you know that works 70 hours a week? Who? Where? I want names and phone numbers.

Newsflash. Your post (and others on this topic) is ignorant because there are no hourly McDonald's employees working 70 hours a week..

And don't point to a manager who is likely salary (at 24,000 most likely).

Simply put. The idea that an hourly McDonald's worker makes more money than a truck driver is such ######## it's not even funny.

Are there comparable jobs that one can do besides trucking that pay the same? Sure. But McDonald's, or any big chain fast food job is NOT one of them.

This is the most used example when someone wants to complain about our profession. The point is no McDonald's in the country is going to let an employee work that many hours. There are millions of jobs that "could" make more but have no chance of actually doing it.

Secondly, if you aren't making the money you want then move to another company or type of freight. One year with Schneider Bulk which almost anyone can do will put you at .48 cpm. But most people just don't want to leave that van, so they don't. They just wonder why they don't make money.

 

Notice how you hear lots of people say that but you never see those people actually go to work at McDonalds.
