What are Your Favorite U.S. Trucking Routes Based on Scenery, Weather, etc.?

Denver to Yakima, WA via 80-84 is a pretty run, and Cabbage is always easier in the summertime.

 

Lovell, WY to Nikiski, AK. Six days of God's favorite country to marvel at, even if most of it is in Canadia...it's a grand country up there, eh?

 

The I-5 in north Cali and Oregon has some beautiful scenery. Oregon 22 is really nice too. U.S. 12 across Idaho and Montana is very pretty as well, as is 287 and 191 in Montana

 

I prefer routes like this...'cept for all the...umm...traffic...blocking my path. I know it isn't the 600 miles long you were asking for, but I'd be happy if I never had to drive on anything bigger than this:

 

i drive in the darkest hours of night. there is no scenery.

 

Hwy. 20 from Boston to Buffalo.
Then I-90 from Buffalo to I-94 in Wisconsin.
Then I-94 to Billings, Montana then I-90 to Seattle, WA.

And:
I-10 in Jacksonville, FL to I-8 in Casa Grande, AZ
Then I-8 to San Diego, CA.

 

US15/222 from Milton PA to Harrisburg in the Fall ... Just something about the Susquahannha that fascinates me.

 

The most beautiful route just happens to be the one I last took. Hwy 87 out of Amarillo, tx to i25 north to sr 69 in Colorado(watch out for the buffalo. Yes, I said buffalo) to hwy 50 to hwy 24 over Tennessee pass. I70 west to Utah, pick up rt 6 to i15. 860 miles of the most breath taking views in the lower 48.

 

Nothing like a stroll down Ashland Ave in Chicago

 

US 95 from Couer d'Alene, ID up through Sandpoint to the border is a nice ride as long as you don't do it during the winter and hit the frostheaves. Ah heck, it's pretty then too. Similarly, US 93 north and south of Kalispell over in MT is pretty. Just about any road up in BC is as well but Crowsnest Pass is fantastic. But my all time favorites are I5 past Mt. Shasta during sunset and the TCH west of Calgary through Banff which also has a really fun downgrade coming west into Golden, BC.

And if you like rocks/desert there's also US 191 in UT, the road Moab is on. Very pretty rock formations up through there.
