Simple question:
I got cleaned up when my boss needed a truck driver. I told him that it's a drug free job. He didn't understand, and I told him that he's required to drug test me as a requirement by the Feds.
He gave me the dumbest look in history. I asked him if he tested our previous driver. He said he didn't know he was supposed to do that. He'd been with us for 7 years...
Is it my responsibility to test myself?!
Does he get in trouble for not testing me, do I, or both of us?
Who the effing 'ell is responsible for scheduling and paying for this?
Who drug tests me?

the employer is responsible for running the drug test program and paying for it as far as I can remember.
truckon, rockinrobinvolvo, Cottonmouth85 and 1 other person Thank this. -
It is the responsibility of your employer to have their company registered with a DOT approved drug test consortium...along with paying for you to be randomly tested.rockinrobinvolvo Thanks this.

Thank you! I hate the way this guy thinks sometimes. He just does things his way, until the sherrifs are at his door and then tries to talk his way out of it.rockinrobinvolvo and miss elvee Thank this.

There is a news item right here on the trucker report website with something related to this.

Oh boy. I can already see my boss making those phonecalls. There's a reason we have to own a truck, as opposed to leasing one now. -
Do him and you a favor and buy him the little green handbook ( FMCSR's) from J.J. Keller and Associates or at a truck stop. Wrap it up and say marry Xmas.

The good news is, you as an employee can't get in trouble for your boss's ineptitude, unless you were to say, refuse a DOT drug test. Then, that would be on you.
Dig the beard by the way....LOLCat sdp Thanks this. -
Good idea but after 7 years...he probably can't read either

#### that's a pretty harsh punishment IMO assuming he had a clean record other than that.
