My freight usually worked out to my advantage when I was OTR, but I refuse to be pushed to make money. I can make money anywhere and I will not be a slave to the comapany. Trucking is a job not a lifestyle--I dont live to drive, I drive to live and I do a pretty good job at it also. BTW, Im not really sure how to seperate this, and really dont care.

I don't know about other truck companies, but I do know that TMC does not allow you to have inverters in your truck.. I guess its a fire hazard maybe? I'm just the wife someone tell me is it? Also to Mr.G you cant say that TMC is a bad company unless you have worked for them.. Everybody has an opinion though, My husband has been with the company for 15 months and he has no issues with them... I still think your just jealous cause TMC has the best trucks...

Type "safestat" into any search engine and you will find it.

Good. No reason why anyone should have to be pushed.

Unfortunately you are very wrong here. OTR Trucking IS a lifestyle. You are living on the road. What else would you call that?

Now you have an attitude problem starting to show. Gee, I wonder if this has anything to do with why you aren't running OTR anymore ?

Wrong again. Rawlco is certainly no newbie. His posts always make for interesting reading, and I am not going to permit you to insult him or anyone else in this fashion, so consider yourself duly warned.

No you do not. There is no law that says you must sleep during your 10 hour break. Frankly, you can do whatever the hell you want. You just cannot drive.

And your point is...? What does you being home have to do with a driver on the road somewhere? Don't compare apples to oranges.

Well, I think your attitude sucks, and your behavior on this forum so far proves that.

You don't have to "ask them for a load". Maybe the man is on his break. Did that ever occur to you?

    Okay. And...??

But you're forgetting one thing. I am home every day too, and unfortunately we have to deal with something that the TMC drivers you've come here to bash do not, which would be a "commute". When we park the truck we still have to drive home. They can sleep ...well... wherever.

I seriously doubt that. I have yet to see a TMC truck that wasn't immaculate and didn't far outshine any local truck running around.

Here again you're talking out of your backside. If the man were a so-called "slave to his company" he would be miserable, but he's not. In fact, I have yet to talk to any TMC driver, on here or on the road, that didn't love his job.

Now, I don't know where you are getting your information, but somebody's been lying to you. Also, I strongly suggest you tone it down and lose the attitude before you find yourself booted out of here. We don't tolerate that sort of thing on this site. Got it?

truckinbiker Mcdonalds is hiring. If you want to be home when you want to. And have your free time and set apt. but your driving a truck. You have load apt. that have to be met. Customers that are depending on you. You set and bad mouth TMC well maybe you just suck at truckdriving flipping burgers at a pilot sounds more like your speed. Would you like some cheese with that wine. I have been driving for the best company in the industry TMC for 15 months and love what I do and who I drive for. I have A 2007 peterbilt that is the Harley davidson of all trucks. And NO not like the old Panheads. Just because you cant handle the job doesn't give you the right to bad mouth TMC. I just finish two days of running In this time I covered 1300 miles legally. So to all of you who can't do it you need to get some trip planning lessons. So you can quit crying. I have been reading all the things you have been saying about TMC. You sound like the super truckers we all laugh at on the radio. So put on your hooded sweatshirt with no sleeves. Your cowboy hat and boots drive your bike to the subway at your nearest pilot I like the steak and pepperjack with lettuce green pepper onion and yellow peppers and hot mustard.:biggrin_25525:

I can't speak to the rest of the diatribe but I believe you're incorrect on this point Mr. Mack.

To be off-duty you must be relieved of all company related work.
IOW's you are free to pursue activities away from the truck.
You are expected to NOT perform anything company work related.

If you're busy cleaning the truck (even if it's yours) you are on duty.

Another example of a gotchya is going to the parts store for replacement parts or acc's for the truck in your personal vehicle. You're on-duty.

If you're at walmart buying cleaning products for the truck..on-duty.

If you're home doing company paperwork at your kitchen table...on-duty.

These are somewhat off-the-wall technicalities of course but accurate.

Im not jealous--I just hear the complaints from the supposed "satisfied" drivers over there. If the company was that great, then why is their turnover rate just as high as everybody elses?

If you like running OTR, then by all means continue! The problem with a lot of these guys is that they see this as a lifestyle--but it is not, it is a job-When I was OTR, I enjoyed being so, but I never considered it anymore than a job and definitely not a lifestyle. I did not "live" in the truck, I slept in it--big difference! I only kept enough stuff with me that I could clean out the truck in about 10-15 minutes if need be. If you are living in your truck, then, Im sorry, but you are working for the wrong company. The last OTR job that I had, I drove more miles the last year that I was there than any other single driver in that company did nationwide-so I understand OTR just fine. BTW, I didnt "live" in the truck either.
The companies that make you "live" in your truck are those who really dont care about the driver or what he thinks. Your truck is a tool with which to make money, if you have to "live" in your truck then you are working way to hard for what the company is paying you.

Wow, you give Indianapolis a bad name. I thought about going to TMC, but they require a CDL permit first, other companies will train then pretty much hire right out of class, start paying you for OTR with a trainer.

As far as your posts go, dude, it is your opinion. And what business is it of yours to tell someone "you're wrong". I have yet to step foot in a classroom, but I can tell you, that being an OTR driver, if that is what you want, it IS a lifestyle. When you are away from 'home' for 4-5 maybe 6 days of the week, driving IS your life. Can you just pull over whenever you see a nice golf course, and play a round whenever you want? Obviously not. When you are 1000 miles from home, and are sleeping in the truck most nights of the week, you ARE living out of your truck. Do us all a favor, you've stated your complaints, your opinion, suck it up and listen to everyone elses now. You opened up this can of worms badmouthing TMC, now listen to those who drive for them, and ENJOY THEIR JOB, rather than continuing to spew. Nobody wants to hear it. Not even a guy like me who WANTS to experience driving OTR, because all you are doing, is making truckers look bad. Continue your crying about this not being everything you THOUGHT it would be, you might as well hang it up, and get a job at a warehouse as a laborer.,...or better yet....a delivery driver for Pizza Hut.
