Sorry you guys feel the way you do and you can think what you will and to answer Whoisdoug's question about miles... It was just the 3-Way Hub and 3-Way Deck I ran that week.

    Whoisdoug Thanks this.

Im a simple man thats been trucking 24yrs lowbed, dry, reefer etc. I live 80miles north of Laredo in Asherton. I would love to do nothing but decking 4 trucks to Detroit, nyc, pa etc. I realize anything worth doing is going to require a little work. Im honest and expect the same in return. Would my home being near Laredo be an advantage and agood fit for TM?

    Hey Donnie!

Yes! Living near Laredo would indeed be a benefit.

Thank you Whoisdoug and Slopok. Whats aHUB run? I hear a lot of complaining but i dont get discouraged easily. I've been married 19yrs with 18yr twins(son&daughter), that are the reason I do all this. We are devoted catholics and put God, Jesus & Holy Spirit first & foremost. With that being said, I turn 42 on 11/08/15 and I keep my doors shut, set the cruise and run a full day. I dont trash around truckstops or mess with lot lizards. We live here at the ranch and starting over. We have everything paid for. I have a 98 WS, 53' dropdeck w/ramps and a bellydump that are parked. I just cant get the money to get them legal. They all have new tires and are in great shape. Like I said, all is paid for and I can worry about the road in front of me and not bills. On the utube videos that TM put up, they say many O/O's parked their trucks because we dont maintain the trucks because they are all NEW with NEW tires etc. I've seen some of these posts that a great deal of the trucks that TM delivers are ragged and worn tires. Can I get a little clarification on this? Thats a concern for sure. Thanks and God Bless you on Gods day today.

The only way you'll have to worry about worn anything on the trucks is if you decide to go Decked Used. TM transports primarily brand new trucks coming from the manufacturing plants. In Laredo, you will primarily move Internationals and some Freightliners as well. Brand spanking new!

What is a hub driver? There are 3 primary driving positions at TM. They are: Hub Driver, Deck Driver, and Singles Driver. As a Hub Driver, when you get to the yard to pick up your load, the trucks will already be decked. No getting dirty. You pick up the trucks, drive to one of several hubs or terminals around the country, you say, "sign here please," and you are off to the airport to get your next set of trucks. A deck driver does not have to deck the trucks unless they go for the deck used position. When a deck driver gets to their delivery, they will get dirty and undeck the trucks. Don't let any Hub Driver fool you. DECK DRIVERS MAKE MORE! PERIOD! For the record, I am a Hub Driver (that wants to deck).

May I ask, are you making a decent living for the meantime as a hub driver? I dont mind getting dirty, thats what long sleeve dickies coveralls are for when decking, that are easy to slip in and out of. This way you can shed your skins before climbing in the customers new trucks. I carry a sleeping bag in case i get in a blizzard and need to sleep in my sleeping bag on the mattress covered in plastic. I was wondering when you get decked and rigged in Laredo and you deliver to your destination, how do they get all the heavy rigging back to Laredo?

I'm glad you said that you don't get discouraged easily. This job is very discouraging in the beginning because you are not told of all the expenses that come in the beginning and without anyone telling you, you will just feel as though you've been lied to.

What kind of expenses? First off, you will pay your trainer. They will deduct ten cents per mile. There is also a security escrow bond of $1,500 that you must put up. They take ten percent of your pay until it is reached. Once that is taken care of, is when you'll really start to see your profit. You also have to pay for your taxi ride to and some places from the airport. Laredo, Dublin, and Macingie has shuttle drivers that can pick you up from the airport. There may be a few others. You also have to pay for your own hotels. Please keep in mind that these are brand new trucks and TM does not WANT you to sleep in the nice, new, pretty trucks that ARE equipped with beds that have brand new mattresses that ARE COVERED IN PLASTIC to protect them. That's actually funny to me. You also have a part of the fuel that you have to pay. Some drivers say half. IT IS NOT HALF. This week's Fuel Surcharge (fsc) is $1.03 per gallon (No. Not per mile. Per gallon). I just did a run from Laredo to Tonawanda, NY (Niagara Falls/Buffalo). I searched really well for the lowest fuel prices along my planned for, as well as alternate routes and I was able to achieve a fuel average of $2.275 per gallon that I had to pay out of my pocket (THAT'S NOT HALF). I lost $469.15 in fuel (after fsc reimbursement). With all that said and done, I made a profit of $990 for 3 days of work, I've already flown to my next load and I'm headed right now to pick up my next load. I WILL make over $2,000 in this one week period. As a Hub Driver. A deck Driver would have made $700 more than me on that EXACT SAME Load that went to Tonawanda. He may not have flown out that morning at 6 am with me, but he still could have flown yesterday afternoon (That's what Hub drivers that say it's NOT more money is wrong).
