Independent truck stops will make a comeback the more the greedy mega chains start charging. The greedy mega chains are making billions on fuel, food, and merchandise. They even charge for WATER. Those of you paying out are tools, in my opinion. I avoid the mega chain stops, try to give my business to the Indy/mom and pop truck stops as much as possible.

I've NEVER had to pay to park, regardless where I am or what time of the day. Gotta plan ahead and having a couple backups in mind...
Kev's Sunshine and HalpinUout Thank this. -
I was parked in one of those spots in Frystown when they wheeled out the signs. Didnt ask me or any of the other trucks already there to move. It was already a full lot at 4pm on a Sunday... That said I sure wouldn't pay money for those spots...blind side 45 in the farthest corner of the lot? No thanks

The pilot east of Nashville, TN on I-40 has paid spots. The illegal parking is real bad there. The paid spots are empty while drivers are trapping each other parking where they aren't suppose to. It reminds me of how bad rest areas become in the northeast after nightfall

It's a shame the rich keep getting richer

I think reserved parking is crap. I also detest idleaire. Keeps too many people from being able to rest when they need to. What's next, reserved showers? Reserved hamburgers at McDonald's? Reserved stalls in the men's room? Ridiculous
Warrior Pump and HalpinUout Thank this. -
How does ideleaire keep people from resting? How does reserve parking keep people from resting? Fact is they both could actually help folks get rest. I guess its the fact it may cost extra,I guess. Not everything in life is fair, want meant to be. If someone runs his truck business to where 14.00 for parking is no big deal and another tax deduction, what's the problem. Perhaps some of this could be wanting stuff for free. If someone starts a
business where he has built a parking lot and wants to charge, that's his business model, if someone also runsRaiderfanatic Thanks this. -
Idelair has been a complete waist of money from the start no wonder why its been bankrupt how many times? How does it help sleep? majority of the time the truckstop is full and the only open spots are idleair... Who wants to spend the money for amenities that are already on a lot of trucks these days? Not everyone is running a business so for a company driver especially a new driver paying $14.00 bucks to park is killing his/her pay check... That $14.00 write off is nothing. Keep shooting yourself in the foot, before we know it all truck stops will be pay to park.
Zelda K Thanks this. -
Its not hard to find a parking spot at the smaller truck stops but that would mean reading a few local maps
Raiderfanatic Thanks this.
