This is an old video I took last year as I was parking it for winter. She's still in pieces at the moment.

Question for you old school Cat guys:
Is there any way to identify which prefix 3406A I have other than the S/N stamp?
The S/N stamp on the RH side of the block by the #6 cylinder is partially erroded away with the years and I can't make out the prefix. I know the dealer was able to pull up the build sheet for it but I don't know if that engine has ever been swapped out. According to the valve cover sticker its the 375 HP version. The head has been swapped out at some point as it appears to be the direct injection head (can't find any glow plugs or related wiring) as well as the head appears to have yellow paint in some spots, rather than the Paccar white that they used at that time. It's definitely an A block based on the fuel pump with the foot long driveshaft attached to it and no cone shaped timing advance in the front cover. -
There was only one prefix of the A model used in trucks and that is 92U.

The injection was determined by arrangement number. The older arrangement numbers are a little more difficult to track down than the more modern engines.
Any thing you need for that engine will be avialable from cat, excluding the fuel system parts they are essentially the same as the B.
If it has a preheater then it is a precom chamber engine, the DI engines did not use glow plugs.AModelCat Thanks this. -
