When I drove dump trucks that head mechanic would hide $50 bills to make sure you were doing your pre-trips it was always fun to watch him walk over to a truck and yank two or three $50 bills out of a truck that somebody didn't look at!

And trust me, he wasn't that generous, he just knew who would look and who wouldn't.

I showed up early one morning and pretripped the entire fleet. of course, as I found out later, it was during the week he didn't put any money out there.

I'd love to see the look on that guy's face if someone DID look, and found the money. :biggrin_25523:

Never ever ever in a million years would I do this job with a camera pointing at me. Can't quite believe anyone else would.

I work for ICE in transportation. All of our buses have cameras all through them, as the nature of the business. They are only looked at if there is an on board incident. I forget they are even there most of the time. Our vans don't have them.
Sounds like all the trucking companies are going to on board cameras. I guess drivers will have to accept it, or find another line of work.

That defeats the whole point of the job, IMO.

What I want to know is how they have GPS tracking, eLogs, and now driver facing cameras, but once you bring up "Hourly Pay" all the companies go "That's just too hard to do"

Just like to mention, those "hidden things" that safety puts on the equipment are worth money when found.
Turn them in for quick and easy cash. Safety if you read this. Please put more on my truck!

Ok so here you go they do actually continually record driving data on the road and the driver video and audio. Also you can access them online some even have an app for i pads. It is on a loop as it says. But if you think that it cannot continually record you are mistaken..

    A.
The DriveCam Video Event Recorders (VER) continually record driving data and provide continuous feedback to the driver. Additionally, video and audio – focused on the road outside the vehicle and on the driver – are continually recorded on a short loop but only stored when the vehicle exceeds a preset threshold (e.g. hard braking or a collision). Recorded video and audio includes up to eight seconds before an event and four seconds after.

    A. DriveCam Online Minimum System Requirements

    • Intel 2.66 GHz Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
    • 5 12 MB RAM
    • 100 Mbps network interface card
    • 256 kbps Internet connection (512 kbps or higher recommended)
    • Dedicated video card with 128 MB RAM at 1280×1024 resolution
    • Audio sound card
    • Microsoft Windows 7+, XP or Vista
    • Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 or higher
    • Silverlight 4.0+ minimum (SL5 recommended)
    • Network connection that permits streaming WMV videos
