Be prepared for your clothes to shrink a little from drying em. I never dry my clothes at home. Just hang em up and let dry.

Pack lightly, once you finish school you will be put in with a OTR trainer, 6 days should be enough, provided you don't get one of those nasty trainers who doesn't like to shower! :(, if this is the case ask for a better trainer, and tell them why

Good Info. How would you ask for a different trainer? Through calling? Just curious. Not planning on it. Do I have to secretly call swift or something?

Greyhound allows 2 checked bags of 50 pounds. And you can carryon a backpack type bag(medicine and important things). The Airlines have similar policy of 2 bags checked. But Soutwest and other budget airlines allows 2 free bags but the Major airlines charge bag fees.

2 packs of dark colored tee shirts. 2 packs of undies, 2 packs of socks, 7 pairs of jeans, a long sleeve shirt, a hoodie. 2 pair of insulated gloves, and insulated boots.Wear the hoodie and carry the rest of your clothes in a duffle. Carry a heavy coat and a pillow in your sleeping bag.

You want to travel light for several reasons. 1 the trainer's truck has limited space 2. In orientation, you don't know whom you're rooming with. You can leave the sleeping bag in the motel, but I would carry the rest of my gear with me. Laptop/tablet, phone chargers, important papers. Watch your gear. Scum is everywhere.

Before going out with a trainer make sure to get the phone numbers for Training department people and Night time dispatch. A lot of drivers have issues with bad trainers and need to be changed. (Keep credit card and bus fare money just in case your trainer puts you out at a Truckstop)
