Not all of them so No drivers do not have to accept it but yes they may go work for the carriers that do not have them.. And if they start then you will watch carriers change. Just like cameras for traffic enforcement. Certain cities paid millions to have then installed and then they started getting sued and state courts started finding them to be unconstitutional or violating rights and laws.. Did the general public just have to accept it or move? No they started going to court and the cameras were first turned off and not used until they could be removed.. It is amazing what can be accomplished when people realize they actually have a voice that will be heard if they stand up for themselves..
Pride has added driver cameras

This is why only bottom feeder training companies are the only ones doing this (and getting away with it).
This 'new generation' is completely destroying everything that USED TO BE good about the industry...and they are either completely oblivious and don't know better, or narcissitic and don't care. Either way is a #### shame.BostonTanker, Air Breeze, superflow and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm leaning towards the "don't know better" because they likely never did.
joseph1135 and Fajo Thank this. -
You can bet these companies will take full advantage of these young drivers
..... Nobody wants this job anymore anyway, the $ is just not here in trucking anymore
And now they even want to have a creepy little camera staring at the driver? ... Not to mention living like a dog chained up to his doghouse 24/7 days a week, it's not something to be proud of that's for sure
.... Turn on the CB radio is like joining the circus,Father Luke Thanks this. -

Yah, nobody said EVERYONE of the bottom feeders have them.
However, as said, it's a matter of time.
I'm just glad I will NEVER have to subject myself to it....because I am 100% certain if cameras were part of the equation when I started trucking, I would still be in the factory world. -

Unfortunately it is what it is.
This is what happens when you live in a "lawyer happy" society where the ambulance chasers are trying to cash in on every little **** up that occurs, especially as far as semi trucks being involved are concerned. Down in the South I've seen more billboard ads for lawyers going after truck driving accidents than I could count. Nowadays with company drivers when you sign on the dotted line, basically you've agreed to follow the company's terms(remember just because you're being given a $140-$150K semi tractor to drive doesn't mean you're being given "carte blanche").
Me personally,I could care less about the cameras. I do what I'm supposed to do and if there are any issues I communicate with my dispatcher. Simple. Once in a while they do turn on the camera to check in on the truck but there haven't been any issues where headquarters has routed me in.
Just my $ .02Father Luke Thanks this. -
