I'm a small truck carrier (10 trucks) and am looking for ways to run our business more efficiently. What are some cheap and cost effective software or apps I can use in my business that is specifically related to trucking?
Owner operators: what are some apps that you are using wither with other companies or with your own?
Some of the software out there is wayyyy to expensive for my blood, and I need something that can help me manage my business and connect with drivers.
I listed some examples below, but I'm interested in what you guys are using.
Any thoughts?
- Loadtap - just ran across this one and signed-up to try their free beta. Looks interesting. Spoke with them on the phone and they said they have a web app for dispatchers and mobile for drivers. Let's dispatchers send and receive load dispatch info along with load tracking. I''ll let you guys know how it is once I try it.
- Dr.dispatch - This is a full management software with a lot of bells and whistles that I won't ever use. I got a quote from these guys but they are way to expensive ($900-$2000). My operation isn't big enough to have this complex of a software. Some features include delivery management, scheduling, expenses, sourcing, cash flow, etc...
- Driveaxle - My drivers use this app currently to send me all of their BOLs. We pay only $10/month for this but drivers can send me PODs, fuel receipts, etc.. from their phone (picture to pdf). There is also a free version available.
- Truckerpath - Mainly used by drivers for pathing and other very useful info (open scales, parking, etc..).. and it seems like I can use this to track the drivers
- KeepTruckin - I can message drivers and get all their logs and they can allow to track.
- Big Road - another messaging and e-log app similar to KeepTruckin.
Here are some others mentioned in this thread below. I'll try to update these frequently:
- MobileBiz Pro - daf105paccar mentioned that this is an android invoicing app (not specific to trucking) but also lets him keep track of his partial payments. Also has CS scanner for picture to PDF.
- Slyectus and Slyectus mobile app - looking on their website, says it is a TMS; very little info available online. Waiting on rollin coal to respond to add additional information
Small carriers: What are your favorite software, web app or mobile apps?

MobileBiz Pro,invoice app for android.
Cost...........1$.Is not specific for trucking but works good. And you can keep track off partial payments on invoices.
CS Scanner, take a picture with smartphone or tablet,it converts it to a pdf then email it.gibbsfree Thanks this. -
I know it's expensive but I like Sylectus and Sylectus mobile app. That's what we use and from a driver perspective it is a nice system imo.
gibbsfree Thanks this. -

Any other examples from people?

Yeah, me too. There hasn't been anything that looks too user friendly. It's all so #### complicated. -
Fuelbook. Sometimes it'll show a price at a place with no truck access,so check before you go.

Programmed my own cost me about $200.00 vs the $20,000 that they wanted on the market. Has worked very well for me for the past five years, I have tested it up to 100 trucks. Bet you could find yourself a high school kid to do the same for you as well.
