What @RedForeman said about UPS. They borrowed trailers from Swift last year. Walmart borrowed from USX last year. The Chicago terminal alone had over a 100 loaded trailers sitting for months prepared for the busy Christmas shopping season. Wasn't as busy as they thought. This year the trailers went out last week.

A couple Saturdays ago I was tagging along on a load to Raeford, NC. Stopped at the TS down the street from the yard to get a drink and Mr. Driver wanted some smokes, was about 5am. Some guy walks up to the door and we're like hey we don't have any cash on us, thinking he was gonna ask for money... So he's like "you want to buy some pot?" All obvious and in the open... Um did we not just tell you we have no money? And nah we dont do that. He's like "So what DO you do?" ... Nothing. Dude are you tweaking? ... "Uhhh. Haha. Maybe... Well, can I get a smoke? And a light? ... and hey can you buy me a beer please?"
Never a dull moment.
