Well, this baby trucker finally got his horn! I pulled into Hogan's lot early this morning and met my truck! All the weeks of "school," all the trips to Chicagoland as part of my training, wondering if I'm doing the right thing or asking my family to pay too high a price... All that put behind me when I came face to face with "Truck," (a better nickname is in order.). It's an "experienced," truck being a 2012 Prostar+ with 403k on the odometer. Can't say Truck got a lot of love from its previous drivers because there are scuff marks on the body plastic, shoe scuffs over the top bunk, the CB antenna is missing, my seat is missing an arm rest and it needed detailed. I took care of the detailing while finishing up my 10 hour break.

I didn't care about the cosmetics, the miles, or even the Maxx badge on the engine. I had been focused on doing this and here it was. Truck was mine! I sent a picture as soon as the sun was out to my girlfriend @Kev's Sunshine . She was as anxious as me, maybe more so.

Truck and I had a conversation, I told it I was a new driver and while I was the boss that I would certainly listen to it. Truck take care of me and I'll take care of you. I really thought we had an understanding.

I'm typing this just 150 miles into my first load as a baby trucker, shut down in a rest area in Indiana waiting on Road Rescue to diagnose and repair Truck's power steering pump. I'm hoping that the machine and I have a better second day...

Sorry you're stuck! Sucks they screwed you, they shouldn't have sent you out with a broken truck. I am not pleased.

    BuckeyeKev and truckon Thank this.

We expected a first break down at some point but I would have hoped it was more than 100 miles from the truck lot on the first run! lol

The quicker you get it out of the way......plus, be glad it wasn't in the middle of nowhere with no phone service. The first time I broke down was in west texas in the middle of summer......waaaaay before cell phones. IT SUCKED I lived through it though and even learned a couple of things from it. Number one was don't trust the fuel gauge on a vehicle you have never driven before. Number two was let somebody know if you take an alternate route to the one everybody else is taking. ;)

I never could figure out why breakdowns always have to happen at the worst times.
