I gotcha. I still will idle out there too! As stated, Ya do what ya got ta do! I delivered an OD load to a school in Ct. last Tuesday. It was cool how the faculty brought some of the kids out and we had an impromptu Q&A session. They were actually interested and seemed to want to know about how we get around things, traffic, etc. Maybe they will take what info I passed along and be more informed from it.That was pretty cool.

I love how kids are infatuated with us. My kids love seeing my truck and on occasion we go for a ride and it's just a thrill. Anytime I pass a school at recess or something you see 50 kids stop what they are doing and give you the air horn signal. Those are the days I love this job.

I just wonder when it is that they lose that feeling. Maybe it's the first time they go into a Pilot and see piss bottles in the parking lot.

 

I don't recall visiting any non-military customers in the US where the office compound was surrounded by a 12' fence with razor wire, and protected by a paramilitary security team armed with automatic weapons.

Americans don't have a clue what real crime and poverty is. I'm thankful that my past employment with Siemens afforded me the opportunity to visit and see that first hand. It changed my perspective on a few things.

 

31 degrees in sunny Elgin this am. That's 4 mile west of Tuckerman BTW. I guess I oughta get around.

 

Or stand behind one of the unwashed, or foul-mouthed(with no regard to his surroundings), unkempt types. Hell I get pissed when I get near these types. If people don't care about their own image, why shouldn't folks think we are all the same. I had a bus-load of kids come by the other day, and even the driver was wanting me to blow the horn. That was fun. Those kids were lit up like it was Christmas! Course it may of been more fun if I had a set of train horns. Gonna find out!

 

I was going more for the filth and stink and trash. Lol

 

For boys its when we find out the true meaning of girls, then we spend the next umpteen years trying to impress such creachers with our shenanigans.

 

I hardly ever give kids the air horn for fear I'll startle their mommy up front from her important phone call or text and cause a crash. On the other hand, when they're in front of me not moving on a green light from the distractions, it's a train horn shaming party.
