It's set at 550 at the wheels at 1900 rpm so that would be around 600 at the flywheel. Originally they were a 450 but it doesn't take much to get them cracking.
The cab got completely rebuilt in 2006 after I hit a bull, it damaged a front panel but I came to a deal with the insurance and we ended up completely rebuilding it with all new panels.
I put brand new diff and trans under it couple of years ago. I've got too attached to the truck to think of selling and anyway work in the mining and oil industry is dead atm and that's what I specialise in.
My Kenworth I've owned for 20 years.

The wheels are one piece. Guys running the outback prefer them because they are easy to change but you've got to true them up, no big deal. Most line haul trucks run alcoas just like you guys. -
Found another pic of the old girl, this one with the shed up and showing off the 3408.
Cottonmouth85, HeWhoMustNotBeNamed and AModelCat Thank this. -
Some pics of the interior. The dash on these older Kenworths have got the good quality Stewart Warner gauges. The turbo pressure / pyrometer Isspro gauge is real craftsman quality.
Also a pic of it at the drive thru bottle shop.jacob, rank, Cottonmouth85 and 2 others Thank this. -
You certainly take care of your equipment well. Its not old, its vintage.
Cottonmouth85 and Ozdriver Thank this. -

Nice old truck.
1. What are the windshield screens for (used to know this but I forgot).
2. Why are the air cleaners mounted forward on the roof?
3. What's the purpose of mud flaps on front of the steers? (Ive never understood this) -
Ozdriver and Cottonmouth85 Thank this.

The windshield screens are for when the truck in front of you kicks up a beer can whilst driving across the outback.
Ozdriver Thanks this.
