Search the threads on the subject. They are full of examples of what other drivers went through:biggrin_255:

if you are making money doing what ever you are doing now i would suggest you stick with it. this is not the greatest job to get into now. but if you do decide to drive a truck may i suggest getting the cobra29ltdBT cb radio for your truck. it is blue tooth compatible so it gives you hands free cell phone usage. then you can inform the rest of us on how well it works.

Boy the commercials must be working.... sure is alot of people thinking about trucking... My advise is to read and read about the job, its defiantly not for everybody.. As Jack said it's not the best time in the industry to start in it as well (my opinion).. A lot of companies now have a turn over rate well over 100% nowadays.. Some will say its the people not able to handle the "lifestyle" of the job, cause it is a lifestyle and not just a job.. While you are on the road you will be doing nothing but eat, sleep and trucking... On the other side some will say its the companies attitudes towards the drivers that create such a high turn over rate.. I myself lean more to this being a reason.. The job has enough stress involved with the daily demands, specially as a new driver without having a company add to that stress.. Companies (majority) seem to treat truck drivers as second class citizens, the law does as well with all the ignorant no idle laws they are passing.. Imagine trying to sleep in your car when it is 90 out and you can't run your A/C, without getting a ticket for it.. Anyways whatever you decide to do make sure you are well prepared in knowing what "really" is going on with the industry... Don't believe these commercials that show you a truck pulled up to a beach and the driver out having a good time on the beach... The fact is your not going to have time to do those things, and you will never even be allowed to get near that beach with your truck because you will have "NO TRUCK" signs all over not allowing you, that is a fact... Nobody wants you and your truck around and it is getting worse and worse...

I-680/I-29 Gotta a nice blue sign advertizing the scenic look-out next exit... ya get to the next exit and another blue sign scenic look-out, arrow, and then, "no trucks over 6,000 lbs allowed, r.v.'s excepted.

    :biggrin_25523: I didn't wanna look anyways.... but ######... heartless...

How many of y'all actually sleep in a 100 deg. truck because you can't idle, isn't that almost impossible to do?

    Not me:biggrin_25513:
I can handle up to 75 degrees and I'll idle. I won't idle for heat unless it goes below 40 or so. I can always grab another blanket but when your down to skivvies and it's hot like San Joaquin Valley hot, I won't shut down unless smokey's ordering me to shut it down. :biggrin_25524:

Ron - see, that's why reefers are better than flapjacks. I can just fire up the reefer and sleep in the trailer. Smokey's gonna tell me to shut THAT off? I don't think so!
