Some simply spend it with their hand, other ones spend it with fam and some it's just another day.

I would like to know if the national Truck stop chains have Thanksgiving dinners.

I dont think Wendys, Mcd's and Subway serve any kind of a turkey dinner and if they did I dont know if I would be brave enough to touch it even if it was free..

That speaks more to your employer than the industry as a whole. You need to find a better job. There are plenty of OTR carriers that make it a priority to get their drivers home for holidays.

Unemployed for a week waiting for everyone to show back up to work on Monday and pick up all the freight and leave me with leftovers paying 85 cents per mile.
I'm the mean time, fuel taxes, IRS, DMV, paperwork, yardwork, and T.V.

TA/Petro put out a 'holiday buffet' with turkey/ham and all the traditional dishes that's entirely okay (the pumpkin pie -my favorite- is turrible). If you can't get to one of those, you're stuck with whatever fast food at the Pilot/Loves or worse; Denny's. Bleh.

There is no excuse for not being home with family for the holidays. Ill find a new profession before missing time with my love ones.

You'd think most outfits could route you past your house for the holiday. It's not like anyone is going to be open that day. Even Walmart doesn't take deliveries that day (all the merch is already in the store by then)

FYI, if your in PA, NJ or DE (MD?) around Thanksgiving, I recommend a "Turkey Bowl" from Wawa (most have 15 minute truck parking). When my kid was born (a week before Thanksgiving) we had the whole family over and no ability to cook, so I just ordered 15 Turkey Bowls from Wawa. My mother took the family to a local diner instead, but when they came back they said the food was bad, the service terrible, and they spent too much for a party of 8.

They had the turkey bowls the next day and everyone agreed they were much better.

I've been at the TA buffet many times during Thanksgiving and I have to tell you, that's one Hell of a spread and it was good. The place was jam packed with more local people then truck drivers.

Here's a hint I discovered years ago. Get your food to go. I can take out 2 or 3 meals worth for the price of the sit down buffet, drink and tip.
