Mine, like the itineraries on concert tours, was called the 'book of lies'. :biggrin_25511:

Don't forget about geothermal...you will have a hell of a time installing it in a DIY, but if you're up north where it's far colder then that's a better solution than solar. It's also about 2-4x as expensive, but 5x more efficient when compared to solar and doesn't wane when in adverse weather.

Guess I should get moving...haven't slept well this week but I'm good to get home. Found just enough hours to get me home, hopefully traffic cooperates.

My brother installed geothermal at his house a couple of years ago and his electric bill dropped immediately by 80%. I would do it where I live but the neighborhood rules don't allow it. I may challenge it if I live long enough.

You've got to get them pretty deep to see a real spike in energy. Also depends on how thick the earth's crust is where you live.

...if I ever build a place of my own though, I intend to do geothermal.

Almost forgot... Tesla motors just released a battery meant to assist in either off-grid or emergency applications. I haven't looked into a great deal, but it's meant for whole home versus basic amenities.

(If anyone REALLY wants to go off grid...a river and a couple tesla turbines would do the trick.)

I believe they went 300' at his house. I know it was expensive but he will definitely get it back.

Actually, now that I think about it it could have been deeper. I know the liquid they circulate stays at around 58 degrees. It doesn't take a lot of energy to supplement that.

I know folks that spend 500$/mo on their tv bill... It's amazing the channels they don't know they had.

I went to a roku player and a TV... Netflix, Hulu, and that's about it... Cost is 30$/mo at most and I haven't looked back.

Edit: guess I have to factor in an Internet connection... So 70$/mo.
