Yeah, if you end up with the truck and trailer in the shape of an L the trailer can top over and you could lose the cargo, broken landing gear, catwalk. I've done it.

In keeping with the OP's question of backing a spread......it is an aquired skill.........experience relative to load, parking surface, and weather will all feed into "how" it will handle backing up. Over time, you won't much think about it.
As for your condescending tone @CasanovaCruiser, there is no need for it. You are hung up on trying to explain a very basic concept; and making it worse with each reply.Highway Sailor, MJ1657 and Rock 'n Roll Relocater Thank this. -
I really hope I didn't actually offend anyone with this conversation, you must know I understood how ridiculous this argument had gotten haha -

Come on, a line is a 180 degree angle or its 0 degrees or its a candy bar who cares

I am just yanking on your chain man. I drove entertainers for 20 years. It takes more than the average person has to get me going.

I almost learned a lesson the hard way twice with my spread.
First time I was doing a tight 90* back with 6 pallets of onions all the way to the front of my trailer. When I approached maybe 70* (just an estimate) the trailer started to tip and my front trailer tires started coming off the ground. Luckily I was going slow and was able to stop and pull out of it.
Second time I had a 44k lb coil centered on the trailer. Sucker was a good 6 to 7 feet tall and only 3 to 4 feet wide. I was backing downhill rainbowing into a parking spot. When I approached 45* the trailer started to tip again.
Every load is different and every back is different with a flat. Go slow enough to make corrections and treat every back with caution. -
