I'm in a bind here. I'm new to trucking and I haven't got any sleep sense yet.

My route takes me up I-5, 580, and then on up into San Francisco.

My problem is that I dont have any idea where to sleep after I hit the 580!

I end up sleeping on the I-5 and forced to crawl through morning traffic to get across the bridge!

Is there any good places to pull off between Livermore and San Mateo? The client doesn't open until 6:30am, and I've been hassled, ticketed, and generally felt unnerved sleeping on SF streets with a 'reefer unit running.

Check google maps and scope out industrial areas where you can park.

    GiantBeard Thanks this.

    Thanks!
I'll give it a shot. I'm always terrified that I'll get stuck on a narrow road with no way to turn around if I start exploring.

The traffic seems to be worse than that fear now though.

Dont want to get stuck on some street and then cant get out. If you find your self in that position you can back up into a cross street and then get out of there.

There is a large industrial area north of the 92 that I used to park in. The exit is Clawiter Drive. Check out google maps and find yourself a spot. As long as you come in after work hours, and leave before you should be fine.

Try the brake check area at the top of 580 just before you drop into Livermore ... Leave there around 4:15, should put you there right around 6 am ... shouldn't hassle you for waiting 30 minutes or so.

    GiantBeard and rachi Thank this.

Wesley exit off 5 has some parking and is 20 minutes or so from 580. The brake check area at the summit of the Altamont Pass (580) is excellent as mentioned above. Clawiter is cool too but you will have to go 580 to 880 south to 92 west to get there and it is the last exit before the bridge.

Thanks! So I wont get hassled for sleeping at a brake check area? Heck, I'm still unsure of pulling into a closed scale to use the porta-john.

Your only hassle will be in trying to navigate through all the trucks who came after you and fabricated parking spots.
