Do you guys down in the States have to run dual steering boxes once you get into the 18k-20k lb range on the steer axle?

I had a driver get a ticket like that once in Ft Collins. He didn't know that the trailer (spread axle) was set up with an air dump on the back axle and since his tractor was not set up with a switch for it it was contantly powered, leaving him with 31K on the front trailer axle and 2500 lbs on the back axle. That one cost $3800

    Accidental Trucker Thanks this.

You're absolutely correct.I dont blame the new drivers of today's trucking if they dont know something I blame the schools carriers and the training .but also certain questions should be answered immediately rather then waiting to see what members have to say.even though Werner tdained me of that's what u wanna call it I learned most of trucking from other drivers. the op should have found out about the weights after that ticket. makes me wonder what else he doesn't know.there's many drivers that would help him and won't judge.
