Yes they "could" and yes that would be illegal. So? Your on the internet, they "could" illegaly hack your email. Do you use it still? Your cell can be illegaly tapped, still use one? Just becuse a required peice of tech could be abused doesnt make tbe tech illegal.

What if I will buy an old truck and put it's VIN number on my newer truck, so on the papers it will be 1999 for example..Then I will be able to use paper logs

I thought the exemption for drivers that drive less than 8 days per month interesting. I think I'm going to hire a couple part time drivers.

My guy typically drives 10 days per month delivering our farm products. full 14 hr days. 140 hrs, That's really, REALLY close to a full time job. For normal people, anyway.
8 days plus maintenance, washing the truck, etc, etc, and we're back to a full time job. I just need a semi-retired driver to do one run per month. Easy, peasy. -
A thought occurred to me today. Has anyone noticed that SNI has been running bookoo commercials for team drivers? This is definitely going to increase "safety". Imagine a fella with 6 months OTR training his co-driver AND having to learn to live in the rolling cubicle for weeks on end. I know that some of these exemplary, law-abiding outfits already promote inexperienced people to a trainers position, but everybody is hollering about a shortage, where are the " teammates" gonna come from? Food for thought! Also as I previously stated, not everybody wants to stay in a ####### truck for weeks and months on end. Those that do, more power to you. But all this e-log bull#### is nothing but assimilation and trying to put independent and free thinking folks outta business, or so it seems. Everybody, whether you're on them now or going to be forced to, think long and hard about your INDIVIDUAL situation. The regional guys and short haul guys are gonna be the ones to pay the heaviest price. That's all I have to say, for now. Have a pleasant and thoughtful evening!
7-UP, dclerici1, Straight Stacks and 1 other person Thank this. -

Sad that this actually is finally gonna happen. I guess moving to a linehaul or local gig is gonna happen sooner than later, my OTR days are over...
