    15% at 105 makes me pucker just thinking about it. On ice it would make me pucker and shiver. Sounds like you're doing great, but earning your money. Not many like you....

    You do work for the money for sure. But 105 on a 15% on ice isn't bad, when the drives lock up just shut down the jakebrake but most of all keep the speed down real low. The real problem is the climb out empty, that requires speed, at least 25 mph or better and on the ice or loose gravel the rear trailer tends to whip crack around the corners. You get used to it or go home I guess.

    I don't know, I pull 85,000 loaded up a 12-13% grade with a hairpin in the middle, and that gets dicey with ice / snow, even when sanded. Not a rookie job, for sure. Put the 3 railers on and whatever you do, don't lose momentum. The problem always comes just as you straighten out of the hairpin.

    But, yeah, the money is why we do it. It doesn't help with the pucker, though......

    I am the OP...

    I came here now , as I said I would earlier after I heard the same commercial again.

    I owe EVERY Shaffer driver , especially WildMurphy, and perhaps Iraqralph43 , a deep apology.

    I'll do these in order , and if I miss anything , I'm sorry , again.

    1) I DID, say "Shaffer"and "trolling" in the original post. It wasn't my intent to call out a particular carrier. I should have used better judgements. I was wrong.

    2) My figures were WRONG. I heard the cpm correctly, but transposed the yearly estimated earnings incorrectly in my head over the time I had to ponder the ad before I posted and I was grossly negligent.

    3) I , as a professional, know better than to open my mouth (or tap my thumbs) when nothing should be said at all.
    I rattled my gums with zero regard to someone else's livelihood and how they spend their time and take care of their family. Each of us has a different situation. None has an identical financial picture. I am regrettably ashamed of myself for those actions and am attempting to own those today.

    Upon further review , it honestly appears that Crete/Shaffer...(although I stand by the fact my intent originally was NOT to attack them and I was only trying to urge folks to do the math and thoroughly vet an employers claims)...is a fine employer with an outstanding opportunity for a driver to earn a great living if he or she chooses to apply themselves in a proper fashion , as those that have lashed me (deservedly) have done.

    By making these reckless statements I believe that I have endangered the perception of my personal integrity, in fact I know that I have.

    I ask that over time you allow me to regain your respect. I'll strive to earn it by showing maturity and leading by example.

    You realize neither of those drivers drive for Shaffer? I posted early that I thought you heard wrong, therefore I will require a new post stating how awesome I am. Plus, I like that you like where you work.

    Here's my truck going up to South Dakota Jammer. I pull for Crete and have pulled loads for Shaffer. We are the same company. Same terminals, same trucks, dispatch can assign us either load. _20151212_061319.JPG
