Why would you jump into a segment of trucking you know nothing about? Being an oo I'd think you'd have the knowledge and contacts of the segment you're in to be successful.

I don't run heavy loads. There is something called Learning right? You didn't know anything about trucking when you first started did you? Now you would consider yourself to be an expert right? OK so its the same thing.

Well you certainly have the personality to be a broker.....
I asked you a simple question. If you do not want to answer it that's fine. I did not say I knew anything or am an expert in anything.
    Good luck to you.

Breathe a little. The segment of this industry you are inquiring about is specialized. Very. Dry van, bulk, reefer.....none of that has much applicability when it comes to quoting OSOW freight. You NEED experience. Maybe try working open deck freight for a bit, and easing into some OD stuff.....then both OS and OW. Don't just hop on here; ask about "oversize shippers" and think a google search is going to yield great results. You NEED experience. That may not be what you want to hear; but it's the truth.

I'm asking the question because I don't know the terminology. I have a great shipper list, however I want to specialize in Heavy Haul. Your suggestion is good, however again, what is the terminology for what you're giving me,? I know where to search but the words must be specific

OSOW is over-size, over-weight. OD is over dimension. With all due respect; lacking even basic knowledge of terminology......you have no business attempting to quote this kind of work. None.

What I am trying to drive home is this: you NEED to learn about this on someone else's dime. You cannot jump in and try to broker this kind of freight cold turkey. One large mistake and you will be done.

  11. now he started from step one like the majority of us. Not jump to step 10 out the gate.

We suggest leading flatbedding loads first.

Because a small opendeck load will not drain your bond and your life savings as well as anything of value you own.

An OD/OS/OW brokered by you in the wrong transportation company. Can cost you everything. Google YouTube

Please start small. Don't jump into an select group with out experience.
