You can have it on your hip it just can't be loaded unless your in a county with a population of less then 200k. There have recently been some changes in the law so this info may be outdated as I don't need to carry open.

 

lol I could build a slam fire smg in my shop with nothing more then a drill press, a stick welder, and some junk yard scrap if I wanted to. It would take about 3 hours, if you can't get them out of state someone will build them if there is a market.

 

Some of those laws are just absurd. The reason you have the weapon is for self defense. If you don't have it on you and ready to go what good is it? If your taking rounds from some nut and you have to fiddle with opening your box loading the mag chambering a round in the pipe the fight is already over and YOU LOSE

Funny, a lot of the crime in northern Indiana comes
out of Chicago. Typical politician crap where they don't understand the laws they supposedly uphold and enforce. You can't legally purchase a gun out of state unless it is transferred to an FFL in your home state and you take possession of it there.

I openly carried a full size 1911 a while back just to see what would happen and no one batted an eye, but I live in a small farming town where people still have some common sense. I'm sure the reaction would be different if I tried it in Indy.

 

I agree in principal. But in il they call it 5 seconds to safety. You can have the clip preloaded. It only takes 5 seconds to unsnap the pouch, insert mag, and chamber. But of course loaded, chambered and in a holster would be much better.
